Over two decades ago, my vibrant and courageous mother stepped out of her comfort zone in the USA when her beloved husband, Bill, invited her to join him in Lesotho, Africa, to volunteer at Beautiful Gate, a Care Center for abandoned babies and toddlers. There, she shared small acts of love, such as blowing bubbles and holding babies, with immense joy and warmth. This single act of faith in traveling to Lesotho blossomed into a God-given friendship with Sister Constance from the Good Shepherd Sisters. Their heartelt bond sowed the first seeds of the Bountiful Hope Foundation. The compassion of these two women has since grown to support the education of 1,700 students and continues to expand. Harriet Bierling, asked the question that started it all. In 2004, Bountiful Hope Foundation was founded in Lesotho, Africa as a result of a simple question from Harriet Bierling. "What do you need?" When told that there were high school orphans who had no one to pay for their school fees and uniforms, Harriet immediately enlisted her family to help raise funds. Twenty one years later, we are still going strong.
On the eve of Thanksgiving, my warmhearted mother, who cherished every moment of life, peacefully took her last earthly breath. She looked into her Creator’s eyes and “let go”, trusting that the Good Shepherd was there to welcome her into a new life. Her life exemplified the incredible impact God can have when we walk together, loving one another, one person at time. Let us lift Bill up in our prayers as the H in BH now resides in the heavenly realm. May we offer prayers of gratitude and thanksgiving for our Harriet, a beautiful soul who lived her life so well and was so immensely loved. "Well done good and faithful servant"
Matthew 25-21 .You will be forever missed until we our united again in heaven.
