Last week, an avalanche of ice and rock came off the mountains along the Nepal-Tibet border and sent a wall of water down the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers. It tore through villages in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Chitwan. Homes and bridges are gone, and hundreds of people are still missing.

Here's an update about what we're doing in response to this terrible natural disaster.

Members of our team are already there, and the relationships go back twenty-five years. That's why help can move now: urgent needs first, then the long work of staying with these communities after the water goes down and the news moves on.

You may not know this, but Nepal is where TRIAD began. Twenty-five years ago we walked into the Himalayas when the church there was still small and scattered, just a handful of believers holding on across a few valleys.
Since then, that church has grown, and today the work is carried by Nepali believers and partners we've walked alongside ever since.

It tore through villages in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Chitwan. Homes and bridges are gone, and hundreds of people are still missing.
These are communities we know.

Members of our team are already there, and the relationships go back twenty-five years. That's why help can move now: urgent needs first, then the long work of staying with these communities after the water goes down and the news moves on.

Flash flooding tore through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river valleys in Nepal this morning. An avalanche of ice and rock came off the mountains and sent a wall of water down into the villages below. Homes are gone. Bridges are gone. Hundreds of people are still missing.

Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Chitawan are the hardest hit.

Nepal is not a far-off place to us. It's where much of this work began. For decades we prayed and labored there alongside Nepali believers, and we watched people groups who once had no church start building houses of worship. Some of those same believers are now going out from Nepal to the unreached.

Today they're the ones on the ground.

Pray for the families still waiting to hear about someone.
Pray for rescue crews working through the night.
Pray for Nepali believers as they care for their own.

We work in 32 closed nations on two fronts: the gospel delivered to millions through media in their own language, and local believers planting churches among their own people.

From the hardest ground on earth, a movement is rising that won’t stop until he is known and loved across the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia.
