This past Saturday, a group of 4-H’ers participated in the District Communication Arts Contest and represented Walsh County incredibly well! 🍀

Our youth did a great job presenting their speeches, demonstrations, and presentations. We are very proud of each participant for their hard work, preparation, and willingness to step outside their comfort zones.

Congratulations to all of our participants on a job well done!👏

🍓👩‍🍳 Kids’ Cooking School is back this June! 👨‍🍳🍞

Join NDSU Extension Walsh County for a fun, hands-on cooking experience designed for youth ages 8–12! Participants will build confidence in the kitchen while learning healthy eating habits and trying new foods each week.

📅 Tuesdays | June 2 – June 30, 2026
⏰ 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
📍 Walsh County Extension Office
101 Co Rd 12B, Park River, ND
💲 $30 per youth
👥 Limited to 10 participants

Youth will make recipes such as:
🍓 Fruit kebabs
🥪 Grilled SunButter & jelly sandwiches
🥣 Overnight oats
🥞 Corn Jacks
🥧 Chicken pot pies

Archery continues to be a favorite activity among by outdoor enthusiasts. Our Walsh county 4-H youth are no exception! 🎯 Over the season, 27 youth participated.

Through the program, youth build skills while working through the 12 Steps to Archery Success, all while connecting with others, forming friendships, and having fun.

Archery wouldn’t be possible without the use of Northern Lites Archery in Grafton and our volunteer coaches: Jaime B., Kelly H., Brian B., Chris O., and Katie, Bailey, and Rachel from the office.

Walsh County 4-H had a wonderful evening celebrating our members, families, and volunteers at the Annual 4-H Awards Banquet on March 22 in Lankin! 💚

From recognizing all seven of our amazing clubs to honoring outstanding achievements, the night was a great reminder of the growth, leadership, and dedication our 4-H’ers show all year long.

👏 Congratulations to our award winners, including:
• Outstanding 4-H Clubs: Flatlanders, 7-Rustlers, and Walsh Winners
• Top Notch 4-H members
• Camp scholarship and Youth Conference recipients
• Key Club and Danforth “I Dare You” Leadership Award honorees
• Our graduating seniors, who received their green and white honor cords

A special thank you to our guest speaker, Marit Ellingson, for sharing an inspiring message about learning from challenges and growing as leaders.

We are so grateful for our volunteers, leaders, and families who make Walsh County 4-H strong. The future is bright! ✨

🗣️🎤Walsh County 4-H Communication Arts Contest! 🎤🗣️

The participating youth did an outstanding job showcasing their skills in public speaking, demonstrations, and more. From sharing their passions to building confidence in front of an audience, these youth truly impressed us with their creativity, preparation, and poise. We are so proud of the growth and effort!🌱

Thanks to our judges Becky, Kari, an Allison, for their time and for sharing constructive feedback to exhibitors. That support leaves a lasting impact!

We are grateful to Park River Area School for sharing their facility for this event. We also thank the Walsh Winners 4-H Club for hosting the event, coordinating volunteers and providing snacks to keep the busy kids fueled.

As always, we are so proud of the youth trying new evens to grow their skills and spark new interests! Each youth will be Beyond Ready for work and life with continued participation! 🍀🙌
