Our recent Volunteer Fair was a great reminder of just how many incredible organizations are working every day to strengthen and support our community.
A special thank you to The Harbour for all they do to support youth experiencing homelessness and instability across Chicago’s northern suburbs. Since 1971, The Harbour has provided safe housing, guidance, and support services to help young people find stability, safety, and a path forward.
Their work goes far beyond emergency shelter. Through dedicated staff, community partnerships, mentoring, and life-skills support, they help empower young people to become self-sufficient and thrive.
The Harbour is also always looking for people who want to get involved and make a difference. Opportunities include helping stock shelter supplies, supporting house dinners for youth, assisting with gardens at their properties, and other volunteer opportunities right here in our area.
Organizations like The Harbour remind us that strong communities are built not only by what we say, but by how we show up for one another — especially for those facing difficult moments in life.
