At Friday May 1, 2026 club luncheon at in River Vale our club celebrated the induction of two new members to our club making a total of 4 new memberships in current Rotary year 2025- 2026 (6/30/26).;We welcome and celebrate our two members and both reside within our Pascack Valley community.

Nothing like inducting a new member to our club as it is key to our growth and ability to do more in community. On Friday March 6th at our luncheon meeting at the Fig& Tomato Italian restaurant in hillsdale, with a full house of members and special guests we had pleasure of inducting a long time friend to many club members. Our club official Inductor with his infamous rotary stories going back a few decades . club member is Gary Leach sponsor & mentor in obtaining membership. Great guests invited to attend ; our good friend editor of invited by , previous rotary president of Westwood club & friend of
guests and good friends , Rotarian at Madison club, , President of welcome home Vets of NJ. Great day for all !

Celebrating women in ROTARY ON International Women's Day

Today we celebrate International Women's Day, a day to recognise the extraordinary women who shape our communities, lead with courage, and inspire change in ways both big and small. 💜

Across the world, women are lifting others up, breaking barriers, nurturing families, leading organisations, and building a better future for the generations that follow. Their strength is not only found in grand achievements, but in everyday acts of kindness, resilience, leadership and service.

In Rotary, we see this spirit in action everywhere. From club presidents and community volunteers to global leaders and changemakers, women are helping drive Rotary’s mission of service above self. They are leading projects, empowering communities, championing education, improving health, and helping create lasting peace.

Today is a reminder that when women are supported, encouraged, and empowered, entire communities thrive.

So today we celebrate the leaders, the quiet achievers, the innovators, the caregivers, the trailblazers and the everyday heroes.

To the incredible women in Rotary and across our communities, I thank you for the difference you make every single day.

March 8, Women's Day, is not just some random day on the calendar. It's got a real, gritty history. Think back to the early 1900s, when women were working crazy hours in terrible conditions, barely getting paid, and didn't even have the right to vote. They were fed up, and rightly so.
It all started with women's labor movements. They were like, "We've had enough!" In New York, they marched, demanding better pay, shorter hours, and a voice in politics. That spark lit a fire.
Then, this amazing woman, Clara Zetkin, at a big meeting in Copenhagen, was like, "We need a day, every year, to celebrate women and fight for our rights." Everyone agreed, and boom, International Women's Day was born.
Why March 8?
The date itself is tied to a historic moment during the Russian Revolution. In 1917, women textile workers took to the streets to protest for "Bread and Peace." They were exhausted by the struggles of war and food shortages. Their brave protest was a turning point that helped fuel the revolution.
Their united action on March 8 made the date a symbol of women's strength, their important role in social change, and their ongoing fight for justice. It marks the day when women's voices helped change history.
A few decades later, the United Nations officially recognized International Women's Day. Today, it is celebrated worldwide. The day is not only about remembering the past, but also about celebrating progress and recognizing that there is still work to be done.
We look back at these historic achievements to gain the strength needed to tackle the challenges women still face in society today.
By standing together, we can ensure that future generations inherit a world where gender is never a barrier to opportunity. It is a collective responsibility to advocate for fairness and to support the empowerment of women in every corner of the world.
March 8 is a day for celebrating the amazing things women do every day.
