This program help with:
-Family events-All outings and events for the entire family free of charge and allow families to be together, have fun, and hopefully relieve some stress.
-School Support Program: helps children deal with changes in their learning ability and define their unique needs in the school setting. The School Support Program gives parents the help they may need to better advocate for their child.
-Child Life Specialists: support each patient while they are in the hospital and when receiving treatments. A child life specialist works with families to meets the emotional, developmental, and social needs of hospitalized children.
-Music, Art and Dog Therapy
The Child Life Specialists connects our patients with a therapist activity that helps during their stay in the hospital. Whether it’s enjoying a visit from the therapy dogs, creating artwork or learning to play an instrument, these therapies help alleviate anxiety, stress and fear while away from home.
-Returning To School
When a child is transitioning back to school, it may be helpful to have a child life specialist go to the school and do a presentation for his or her classmates. The presentation focuses on educating the students about the illness and can clear up any misconceptions and questions the students may have.
-Multidisciplinary Off-Therapy Clinics & Child Psychologist
an opportunity to meet with multiple specialists at one time. This type of clinic allows the care team to come together and review the patient holistically to provide an overall care and treatment plan. The Multidisciplinary team consists of pediatric specialists including; Neurosurgery, Oncology, Radiation-Oncology, Neuroradiology, School Support Neuropsychology, Child Life, Survivorship Transition Support, and Social Work.
