This Farmer Friday, we’re celebrating the permanent protection of 99 acres at Lind Ranches in the Kamas Valley. These working pastures do more than support agriculture: they provide habitat for wildlife, help filter and move water, and play an important role in our watershed.

That’s the power of protecting farmland: you’re not just saving a field, you’re investing in open space for the future!

A NEW PIECE OF OGDEN CANYON FOREVER PROTECTED. 🌲🌲🌲

Today, we’re celebrating the permanent protection of 128.6 acres in Ogden Canyon, now known as the Keith and Belinda Rounkles Ogden Canyon Conservancy.

For nearly 50 years, the Rounkles family has called Ogden Canyon home. They operated The Oaks restaurant for 44 years, sharing the canyon’s beauty with visitors from around the world. Now, they’re ensuring this special place remains undeveloped for generations to come.

The property’s forests, seasonal streams, wildlife habitat, and scenic views are part of what makes Ogden Canyon so special and it will remain protected forever. 🦌

This project also represents what’s possible when local conservation partners work together. Summit Land Conservancy and Ogden Valley Land Trust are combining local relationships, expertise, and resources to save more land and save it faster across northern Utah.

We’re grateful to the Rounkles family for entrusting us with this legacy, and excited for what comes next!

EAST HOYTSVILLE RANGE | 2,800 ACRES FOREVER PROTECTED

Another treasured landscape is now part of a lasting legacy. Last week, Summit Land Conservancy permanently protected 2,800 acres of the East Hoytsville Range, pushing our For the Future campaign past 15,000 acres saved!

This historic working ranch has been stewarded by local families for more than a century and preserves important wildlife habitat, the Upper Weber Watershed, and North Summit's ranching heritage.

Even more exciting, East Hoytsville Range is Phase I of a larger conservation effort. Alongside neighboring ranches, this landscape has the potential to become more than 12,000 connected acres of permanently protected open space in the years ahead.
