🌲 The Anchor Trees trail is officially open! 🌲

Last week we celebrated the grand opening of Park City’s newest hiking trail, and what a day it was. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate and hike with us!

This trail is more than a beautiful walk. It’s a showcase of the land preservation work that keeps open space protected for generations to come.

Huge thanks to Mountain Trails Foundation for making it all happen. ⛏️

It's Weber Wednesday!

Thanks to support from the Promontory Foundation, a matching grant, and additional funders, we've installed an equestrian access area and new main gravel parking lot at Marchant Meadows, our 86-acre preserve along the Weber River in Peoa.

This new infrastructure will give trail users a dedicated place to arrive, hitch up, and set out on their adventure.

Thank you Promontory Club for pitching in to help us bring more riders to the Kamas Valley's beautiful open spaces and growing trail network!

“This is exactly why every acre matters,” said Cheryl Fox, CEO of Summit Land Conservancy. “Blue Nixon is a relatively small property, but it sits within a much larger agricultural landscape. Keeping this land in production, along with its water and wildlife habitat, helps maintain the character and function of the valley.”

The conservation easement on Blue Nixon permanently removes residential development rights while allowing the family to continue using the property for agriculture and other permitted activities.

🍺🌿 Hoppy Hour, you were a real pour of local flavor!

A big THANK YOU to for helping us get a little creative with rocks in Round Valley! 🪨💦🌿

Volunteers helped us build Zuni bowls and Zeedyk structures, simple rock structures designed to work with the natural flow of water.

So, what’s a Zuni bowl? Think of it as a small, rock-lined bowl built into a stream channel. It slows down fast-moving seasonal runoff, reducing erosion, and giving water more time to soak into the surrounding wet meadow. Zeedyk structures work in a similar way, slowing and spreading water across the landscape instead of letting it rush downstream.

The result? Less erosion, more water staying where it’s needed, and healthier wet meadow habitat. Not bad for a morning of moving rocks around!

Thanks to the awesome Serve Park City volunteers for bringing the muscle, enthusiasm, and willingness to get a little dirty. We couldn’t do this work without you! 💚

🌾 Farmer Friday: Blue Nixon

A small piece of Huntsville’s agricultural landscape will remain just that: a small farm forever.

This week, Summit Land Conservancy, in partnership with Ogden Valley Land Trust, permanently protected 19.89 acres of agricultural land known as Blue Nixon with a conservation easement.

Blue Nixon adds to a larger pattern of protected and working lands in Huntsville, with another conservation easement directly across the road and Historic Monastery Farm less than half a mile away.

One small farm, and one more piece of Ogden Valley that will remain open for generations to come! 🌱
