πŸ₯•Now anyone can walk into the Community Garden and pick a pea, pull a carrot, or snip a few fresh herbs for dinner! We piloted a snacking garden this year where hundreds of children got to have a direct experience with how food grows and taste it right from the source. Every year, over 4,000 people get connected to food through our food education, access, and gathering programs. Next year, we are expanding the snacking garden for more garden magic.

We provide hands-on gardening, cooking, nutrition and sustainability lessons all year with both in-school and after-school classes for Pre-K to 9th graders in local schools. We also provide week-long camps at the Garden all summer long for Pre-K and Elementary age kids. We're looking for candidates who have experience leading indoor and outdoor programs with children, developing curriculum, creating recipes, and gardening. This role plays a key part in realizing the SCG -EATS’ vision of creating healthier outcomes for local children and inspiring the next generation of healthy eaters. The Program Educator is year-round, part-time position with the potential for growth.

πŸ’šπŸ§‘ Raise your hands if you love summer garden camp!

Last season, 23% of our summer campers participated because generous donors funded scholarships. They cooked and gardened, made new friends, and connected to nature. With a donation, you can be the one to give a kid a lifetime of memories and skills!

TBT! Throwing it way back to late September when the sun was still shining. The kind folks from Lore Health spent an afternoon with us doing some much-needed winter prep work in the Garden. It was amazing to see how many weeds got pulled and how much mulch was spread. We πŸ’š our volunteers and couldn't do it without them. Thanks Lore Team!

With autumn's arrival comes the Garden's winter preparation. Join us on Tuesday for an open-house style gathering at Summit Community Gardens to celebrate the winding down of the 2025 season! The Garden team will provide lots of tips about winterizing your plot as colder temperatures move in. Plus we will have seed garlic to purchase and plant. Bring an item for the potluck if you'd like. We'll have our signature garden-fresh mint lemonade, water and a big hearty salad. Plus, there’s likely still be carrots, turnips, and radishes to harvest from the snacking garden!
