BICENTENNIAL MURAL CHRONICLES PARIS’ SECOND 100 YEARS

Paris, Tenn.–A large crowd was on hand for Monday morning’s ribbon-cutting for the second Bicentennial Mural in the west downtown alley. Dan Knowles created the mural, which chronicles the city of Paris’ second 100 years. “People, Places and Progress: 1923 to 2023” is the title of the mural and it is placed next to the mural which recorded the first 100 years. Even before the ribbon-cutting officially began, people were crowding around, pointing at the people they knew. In the mural, you’ll see Susan Jones, Mordecai Johnson, Pearl Routon, Nelson and Neal, Johnny Gray, Stephanie Tayloe, Johnny Mac, Rockin’ Randall French, Kenneth Humphreys, Joe Routon, the Aristocats, Tom Lonardo, Martin Paschall, Kathy Ray, Iris Shepherd, Rattlesnake Annie, Bill Hudson, Hank Williams Jr., the Aristocrats band, Sellers Leach, and more and more. You’ll also see landmarks of the local area, including a giant barrage balloon from Camp Tyson, the Airplane Service Station, Eiffel Tower, Salant & Salant, Sulphur Well, the courthouse and much more.
