Cheers to the best Soccer Moms we know- you cheer loud, wash the jerseys, find the missing shin guards (why is it always the left one?!), and are keeper of the best sideline snacks. We appreciate all you do and want to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to you, and thank you for sharing your weekend with us playing double headers. PSA wouldn’t be possible without supportive parents like you!

The City of Paris is preparing to update the Parks and Recreation Master Plan to guide development of park facilities and recreation programs through 2036. An early step in the planning process is to learn what residents would like to have available through the Parks Department over the next 10 years.

The survey can be accessed at www.ParisTexas.gov/ParksSurvey and is open through Sunday, April 26, 2026. Anyone can participate, including Lamar County residents and other visitors to Paris.

“Any expansions or changes to parks and recreation programs in the City of Paris during the next 10 years will be based on the results of this survey and other tools,” City Manager Rose Beverly said. “The Parks Master Plan document directs how tax dollars are invested in our parks and is a requirement for most park-related grant applications.”

It is important to note that this is a different survey from the National Community Survey, which closed earlier in March. If you participated in the NCS, you are encouraged to take this new, unique survey specific to Paris Parks and Recreation.

Local area high schools are offering SOCCER camps this summer, and we wanted to help spread the word! Lots of former PSA players and past and present referees play at both schools, and we want to support them! Games slated for 4/25 are cancelled due to last night’s storms. Player safety is at the forefront of these decisions and currently the amount of rainfall last night pushed the fields into not playable. Teamsnap will be updated accordingly. We want to play- but such is spring time soccer. We hope all our families are safe and stay safe throughout the weekend.

We want to share this with you- Paris Soccer Association utilizes fields at the Sports Complex, which is part of the city’s parks and recreation division. This survey is to help gauge needs for a parks master plan. This will help determine facility needs (bathrooms, accessibility, parking). PSA is happy to partner with the city to help bring these things to you and offer activities for the youth of today and the future!
