Spring House is Bergen County’s halfway house for women recovering from alcohol and drug abuse. Spring House was established in 1978 through the efforts of a group of county residents. Since then, more than 1,500 women have called Spring House their temporary home. Spring House is a residential treatment facility providing a confidential and structured environment for recovery. The program is staf
fed 24 hours a day by certified and trained addiction and mental health specialists. Spring House combines the traditional 12 Step approach with individualized treatment. This treatment includes group and one-on-one counseling, family counseling and self-help meetings. Spring House is unique in that it also provides clients with professional educational and vocation assessment and training. They receive assistance in finding employment and housing, enabling them to transition into the community as a sober, healthy, productive member of society. All Spring House services are offered in a caring and supportive environment. Upon successful completion of the program, residents can participate in aftercare and the Spring House Alumnae Association. The Spring House Alumnae Association is a group of former residents dedicated to the continuing work of Spring House. Alumnae devote time and energy to support Spring House residents as they transition back into the community. They visit residents, serving as mentors for recovery, and raise money for special events. Upon successful completion of the program, residents can participate in aftercare and the alumnae association. Friends of Spring House is a volunteer group of interested community members who complete special projects to supplement the support provided to the residents and alumnae of Spring House. The Friends of Spring House assist residents and alumnae as well as organize fund-raising activities.
