Did you know that as a current or former client of a Children’s Aid and Family Services out-of-home care program, you could be eligible to……
•Work with program staff on developing the necessary life skills to make your transition to independence a more successful one?
•Have a committed, positive relationship with a trained Mentor?
•Have Host Family who can provide you with a safe, comfortable place to stay during school breaks and holidays if you go away to a college or trade school that doesn’t allow you to stay on campus?
•Participate in a quarterly Next Step survey that helps us track how you are doing after you leave us, as well as gives you an opportunity to stay in contact with staff, all while being paid to do so?
•Have access to funding that can assist you with driving lessons, car insurance, educational programs, rent, groceries and utilities?
•Apply for the agency’s Thomas R.Burgin Parent Fund, which can help you pay for college or trade school, including school supplies and transportation?
•Apply for emergency funding through the Thomas R. Burgin Parent Fund if you fall in to difficult times trying to make it on your own?
•Receive support and financial help for a few months after you leave us if you go to a non-funded program, like an adoptive home, back to live with a family member, or away to college or trade school?
•Have support accessing resources in your community that can help you with things like getting appropriate medical care, housing, therapy, and financial assistance?
•Obtain free or low cost diapers and formula if you have an infant or small child at home?
•Work with program staff on completing a PIRK (Personal Identification Record Keeper) to keep all of your most important information and documentation in one safe place?
