Help us celebrate and recognize Det. Cpl. Johnathon Porter for being chosen as Officer of the Month for March 2026!!

On March 17, 2026, officers with the Paragould Police Department responded to a local bank in reference to a report of forgery and theft. Bank staff advised that on March 12, 2026, a suspect had entered the bank and cashed a check in the amount of $3,500, which was later determined to be counterfeit.

On March 25, 2026, officers were again dispatched to the same bank regarding another incident involving a fraudulent check. Upon arrival, officers encountered three suspects attempting to cash counterfeit checks. During the course of the investigation, Det. Porter determined that these individuals were not only involved in the initial case but were also connected to multiple forgery cases throughout Arkansas and in other states.

As a result of his investigation, Det. Porter secured charges on all three suspects for Engaging in a Criminal Gang, Organization, or Enterprise; Forgery; and Criminal Attempt to Commit Theft of Property. It was further determined that all three suspects were undocumented individuals from Venezuela, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed detainers on each subject.

Notably, this case highlights Det. Porter’s strong performance following his recent transition into the role of detective. Despite being new to the position, he has quickly demonstrated initiative, sound investigative instincts, and the ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional cases effectively.

Det. Porter’s attention to detail, work ethic, professionalism, and dedication to duty reflect great credit upon himself, the Paragould Police Department, and the citizens he serves.

On behalf of the members of the Paragould Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #87, it is our pleasure to publicly thank Det. Cpl. Johnathan Porter for doing such a commendable job, not only in the month of March, but every day that he is on duty.

We'd also like to say, "Thank You!" to the following local businesses and individuals that have made donations to the Officer of the Month Program to help recognize the Officer's accomplishments.

Help us celebrate and recognize Ptl. Jacob Allinson for being chosen as Officer of the Month for February 2026!!

On February 28, 2026, at approximately 0340hrs, Ptl. Allinson attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black Ford Explorer. Upon activation of his emergency lights, the vehicle accelerated, disregarding the traffic stop. The vehicle continued traveling at a high rate of speed until eventually coming to a stop. Ptl. Allinson was able to end the pursuit safely preventing any property damage but more importantly preventing anyone from getting injured.

Ptl. Allinson demonstrated calmness under pressure by providing critical radio updates while staying with the vehicle during the pursuit. Ptl. Allinson coordinated effectively with other officers, ensuring the successful apprehension of both suspects, and maintained professional conduct with a steady demeanor despite the evolving complexities, showcasing maturity beyond his tenure as a new officer.

On behalf of the members of the Paragould Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #87, it is our pleasure to publicly thank Ptl. Jacob Allinson for doing such a commendable job, not only in the month of February, but every day that he is on duty.

Help us celebrate and recognize Ptl. Cameron Hughes for being chosen as Officer of the Month for January 2026!!

On January 19, 2026, at approximately 0001hrs, Ptl. Hughes responded to an unwanted person call. Ptl. Hughes saw the individuals in the area and directed other officers to their location as he continued to take the report. Ptl. Hughes used his prior knowledge from his detention center experience to identify the male on scene after the male provided a false name. He also used his prior experience from being a patrol officer to help identify that the female, a registered s*x offender, had given them an unregistered address.

This one incident resulted in a misdemeanor and two felony arrests including possession with intent for the male. This incident also resulted in a misdemeanor warrant arrest and a felony arrest for failure to comply with registration and reporting requirements for the female. This incident was a great all-around effort by the shift, but Ptl. Hughes’ experience and ability to recall information really shined in this incident.

Ptl. Hughes work ethic, dedication, and professionalism bring great credit upon himself, the Paragould Police Department, and the Citizens of Paragould.

On behalf of the members of the Paragould Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #87, it is our pleasure to publicly thank Ptl. Hughes for doing such a commendable job, not only in the month of January, but every day that he is on duty.

We'd also like to say, "Thank You!" to the following local businesses and individuals that have made donations to the Officer of the Month Program to help recognize the Officer's accomplishments.
