UPDATE: We currently have a unit ordered!!! Thank you everyone for your quick responses and donations. For those that offered up a used unit. If you still want to donate said unit we could always use a backup in case…. I promise I’m not going to touch this unit… at all!!!

Guys, I messed up. Last night when I was making rounds in the cat shop I noticed the window unit we have in there was leaking down the wall. It’s a newer unit with no plug so I was trying to loosen up the window just enough to put the unit at a tilt so it would drain outside and not inside until I could clean it out this morning. I didn’t have a good grip. I dropped the entire unit out of the window…. It landed on the brick outside, fins down, smashing the back in. It bent the copper wiring in several places and the fan. It’s an absolute goner. It was a 14,000 BTU (only 2 years old) and the back up unit we have is a 5,000 BTU and looks like it’s seen some stuff. We have the backup in the window but I know there’s no way it’s going to keep the cats at a comfortable temperature if it’s able to cool the space at all. There’s 43 cats/kittens currently housed in this building!!!! It’s a large building with a lot of warm bodies in there. It’s going to heat up fast. I know this is a problem I created myself. I should have just unplugged it and dealt with the water damage this morning when I would have had help. I know this is not the communities problem to fix. But we are already looking at a mountain of fees and bills we are trying to fundraise for. If anyone has a spare unit or one they have upgraded from and won’t need, we would be so grateful!!! If you can donate even a few dollars, trust me it adds up. If nothing else, please share this and keep sharing this!

🐶💙please share!!💙🐶
Our Girl is not feeling good. This baby was doing great over the last two weeks. We had been treating her skin and getting her ears cleaned up. All was going great until she started vomiting 2 days ago. This was shortly followed by diarrhea and within a few hours she couldn’t hold water down even for a few minutes. We took her to Linwood and they ran X-rays to check for a blockage or any obvious reason for the sudden symptoms. No blockage, nothing obvious. They gave her a shot for nausea. She started eating and drinking again. Thought it was a fluke. It’s been less than 24 hours since her foster mom brought her back from the vet and it’s started again. We need to take her back in for bloodwork. Unfortunately, we need to pay off her bill from yesterday before she can be seen again! We do not have the funds right now to cover her bill, especially owing a balance at two other clinics at the moment. If you can donate, we need help. If you can’t donate please share this!!!

We now have a sponsor covering Rosie’s adoption fee!!!!!!
Awesome update:
Rosie went for a little ride to the vet today. She’s been losing weight despite her foster mom increasing her food portions. We was a little worried because Rosie has always had a great appetite and there’s never been an issue with her weight. She’s looking rather thin right now. No worries, poor girl just picked up some parasites off the property. A few weeks of some meds to clear everything out and she’ll be back in shape. The most surprising news though…. We decided to run a heartworm test since it’s been 6 months since her last one. To our greatest surprise, she’s FINALLY HEARTWORM NEGATIVE!!! We are so happy for her!!! Rosie’s heartworm case was never severe. All of her tests were always a light positive, it just lingered. She’s finally cleared though!
Rosie is still looking for her forever home!!

It’s fundraising time and we need some input!!!
Right now we are looking at around $2,000 we need to raise:
Flea meds for 35 cats around $705
Combo tests for 10 cats around $500
The cost of finishing our 501c3 filing is $750
We know everyone’s budget is tight right now. We need something where someone is getting an item or something they can use in exchange for their donation. My first thought is an online bake sale where we have an established menu. The items can be made as they are ordered as well as posting items that are already made and ready to go.
Not everyone wants baked items so we will have some canned items for sale such as candied jalapenos, homemade hot sauce and homemade pickles. Is this something our followers can participate in?
Do you have other ideas?? Please leave a comment about any or all fundraising opportunities you might think of.
Also, do we have any business owners that will allow a donation jar at their reception area or lobby?

Pictured below is Gigi. She is currently at the cafe for adoption. No worries, she won’t be doing the baking….

Rescue is never easy, some days are just less exhausting. Today was not one of those days.
That first picture is a .22 bullet. The second and third picture is the cat it was removed from.
Someone raised a .22 rifle, looked down the barrel and fired at a helpless animal. It wasn’t for food or safety. I’ll never understand how anyone can wish pain or suffering on another living creature just for existing.
Naruto is fine now, but that .22 bullet gives us answers to questions we had earlier this year. Naruto was a stray. He had wandered up in a families driveway one day and just wanted food and love. They had started caring for him with the intentions of keeping him. However, their other cat just wasn’t having it. They couldn’t bring him in. They contacted us and was waiting on us to have a foster space to accommodate him. One morning when they went outside to feed him breakfast they found him laying in the yard unable to walk. They rushed him to the vet. He was paralyzed. They assumed he was hit by a car but oddly enough could not find any wounds or road rash. He went home on steroids with a low chance of recovery. They set him up an enclosure in their garage, gave him his meds and even did the recommended therapy exercises. He recovered against some pretty big odds, but he did it. He was still a little wobbly when we finally had room for him in May but he was growing and doing great. We had him neutered and he spent the last two months hanging out in foster care. To our surprise, a cat that we had been petting, hugging and moving around all of a sudden had a tiny lump under his skin. It was hard and the shape of a tic tac. The lump could be pushed around and moved. Took him to Dr. Baker and had it removed. It must have broke loose from its original impact location. This was the original cause of the paralysis. Five months later we have answers. But that little bullet has weighed so heavily on my mind today. This cat is ridiculously sweet. He posed no threat to anyone. Was it for fun? Was it someone who just doesn’t like cats? There’s no just cause for firing a weapon at this baby.

Hey guys!!! These beautiful wood pieces are for sale. Their proceeds will go to benefit Wynne Friends of Animals. They are a wonderful rescue that helps promote spay and neuter. WFOA helps the community out so much and we really want to bring attention to this new fundraising opportunity they have. One of their team members personally makes these and has agreed to custom orders as well. The smaller plagues range from $35-$65 depending on the work done or if it’s custom. The welcome planters are $95.
