We posted a reel the other day of a video of some of my bottle babies playing in a play pen. It was just a cute video. I didn’t expect the amount of people that would be messaging wanting to pick one out for adoption. I disappointed a lot of people…. Our babies are not available for adoption until they are spayed and neutered. That usually happens around 4 months old. We use to allow babies to leave us at 9 weeks old and come back at a later date to be spayed and neutered. Too many adopters ruined that for everyone else. We had a large number of folks who would ghost us and not return our calls. Some argued later that they didn’t agree with the age we had them fixed and refused to bring them back. Then, we had those that messaged us when the cat went into heat and then they was impatient to get them done because the cat was driving them crazy. Too many bad experiences made us knuckle down on our protocols.
We realize that most everyone wants to experience these adorable moments so we do have one other option…. Foster. You can foster a litter of kittens. Our foster parents are allowed “dibs” on adopting any of their fosters.
Do you still have to sign a contract to adopt? Yes
Do you still have to pay an adoption fee? Yes
We hold everyone accountable with the same contract and we still have to pay for supplies and medical bills.
We make fostering as easy as possible though. We provide, food, formula, wipes, potty pads, play pens, kennels, bowls, bottles, bedding and even toys. Some of our fosters do opt to provide their own preferred brands over what we have in stock and that’s ok too. You can choose to foster a litter that is already weaned onto hard food if your schedule doesn’t allow for bottle feeding.
We currently have 3 litters I am personally bottle feeding 😮💨. Then we have 1 litter that is on hard food and water that we are still just giving formula in a bowl a few times a day for transitioning. We also have 3 litters that are weaned off completely to hard food and water. If you are interested in fostering please message us. If you can donate to their supplies…. We go through about 30 potty pads, 1.5 cans of formula and about a quarter of a pack of wipes a day! We use dish soap to wash all of our supplies, bleach soak for safety measure and hand wash/ sanitizer between litters. Items can be donated to Something Pawsitive or we can arrange to meet you. 😻
