Important announcement for residents of ESD3.

🚨 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR WISE COUNTY ESD #3 RESIDENTS 🚨

The Wise County ESD 3 Board of Commissioners has voted to place a local sales and use tax measure on the November 3, 2026 ballot.

With local call volume up 54% and population growth booming, current property tax revenues are no longer enough to meet our community's needs.

👇Here is what you need to know about the proposed measure:

- WHAT IT DOES: Proposes a 1.5% sales tax in eligible unincorporated areas (bringing the total rate to the standard Texas 8.25% cap). No change for purchases inside Paradise or Springtown city limits. Essential items like groceries and prescription meds are typically exempt.

- WHY IT MATTERS: Projected to generate $2.14M–$2.28M annually, allowing ESD 3 to transition from an all-volunteer department to 24/7 paid, professional staffing for faster, reliable response times.

- FAIR COST SHARING: You likely already pay this standard 8.25% rate whenever you travel or shop in neighboring cities and towns. Passing this locally keeps those dollars at home and shifts part of the funding burden away from local property owners by capturing revenue from commuters, visitors, and commercial activity.

- UPGRADING EQUIPMENT: Funds a $15.27M capital plan to replace aging fire trucks/brush trucks and upgrade the Paradise, Salt Creek, and Cottondale stations.

🗓️ VOTING INFORMATION:
EARLY VOTING: October 19 – October 30, 2026
ELECTION DAY: Tuesday, November 3, 2026

WHO CAN VOTE: All registered voters living within ESD 3 boundaries (including residents in Paradise and Springtown city limits).
