The restoration of the field just west of Harvest Drive has began. On Friday the 21st, our contractor mowed the 1.4 acres along both sides of the creek from Harvest Drive west to the tree line. Next step is to spray the weeds and then seed with grass. It’s a bit ugly now but you’ll see improvements by the fall (weather permitting).

If you’ve walked the trail through Settlers Creek, you’ve probably noticed several new trees lining the trail. Earlier this year, your SID board secured a grant through the NRD that paid for 17 trees including the cost to plant them all. All are native(ish) and consist of the following species: Kentucky Coffee, Eastern Redbud, Service Berry, Honey Locust, Hackberry and Oak. One or two look a little rough right now but the cooler weather and rain should help.

If you’ve noticed a lot of dirt piled along the creek on the east side of 66th, south of Pioneer’s View and north of Eagle’s Crest, the City of Papillion’s FB page has finally made an announcement. The developer of Pioneer’s View is digging a small lake and will extend the trail past 66th Street.

We have 2 SID meetings coming up and I wanted to make sure there’s no confusion.

We have an official board meeting on Tuesday, December 2nd at 4pm at the attorney’s office.

On Monday, December 8th we have a Settlers Creek Homeowners Informational meeting at 7pm at the Papillion Middle School in Papillion. You should’ve received a postcard in the mail about 2 weeks ago with the agenda.

Both meetings are public and I encourage everyone to attend either or both meetings.
