Work continues at Lucas Farm every day. The water scarcity in our valley has contributed to drought conditions and stress on farms across our region. At Lucas Farm we are fortunate to have a variety of sources of water, from irrigation brought by canals from the mountains to Lucas Creek, to a well and a domestic water tap. This summer our holding ponds have been enlarged, and new ditches connect several ponds together. We are also able to fill water tanks from the ponds so that we can water trees and shrubs in areas after irrigation water is shut off for the year. 💧💦
Our resident beavers, otters and muskrats assist in our endeavors and guide us toward appropriate modifications. Nesting Canadian geese and a frequent Blue Heron visitor move from one pond to another throughout the days. 🦆
Our "new tree" project is underway. We created a nursery area last autumn where we are planting fruit trees from both whole fruit and seed sourced in our valley. This is the beginning of a large project to grow thousands of trees for distribution around the United States. Helping trees to "adapt" to the more common stressful conditions farmers everywhere are experiencing is a major focus of our work. Assisting in the evolutionary adaptation of plants can only be accomplished by a combination of physical conditions and spiritual support through our consciousness and communication with nature. Our Sunday meditation sessions at Lucas Farm have a specific focus supporting this new tree nursery and the development of the new trees. 🌱🌿🌳☘️
