The Learning Council

The Learning Council The Learning Council is an educational hub for the North Fork Valley.

We provide opportunities to people of all ages and abilities with a focus on food, music, arts, agriculture, wellness, and stewarding the environment. We are a passionate non-profit organization determined to provide our community with complimentary alternative education in music, art, cooking, agriculture, and hand working. We aim to bring together students of all ages with enthusiastic teachers to facilitate learning in these necessary and life-changing subjects.

Stop by Berry Fungi Farms booth at Paonia’s Arbol Farmers Market to learn about and taste different varieties of locally grown, cooked mushrooms including chestnut, brown oyster, shiitake, lions mane, lions paw, lions pride, king oysters and more! Sample pickled mushrooms and bring home locally grown mushrooms from the market!

Join us this Saturday May 23rd for our Pastured Poultry Class with Jacob Gray at Mountain Bird ~ 12273 Crawford Rd, Paonia from 10am to Noon!

Learn best practices for raising healthy pastured poultry and high quality meat. We will explore rotational grazing methods, feeding and watering systems, housing, chicken tractors, breeds, regional challenges, pasture irrigation, processing, and more.

Jacob Gray has been raising pastured poultry for over 11 years at his farm in Paonia, CO. He built the state's first licensed poultry processing facility at his farm in 2019 at Gray Acres and championed state legislation for small scale poultry farmers.
