"I WAS NAMED STYLO. I D.I.E.D HAPPY BUT...
I d.i.e.d today!! I want you to spend 5 minutes reading my story so it's not wasted.
I came to the shelter when I was 3 months old and they called me Stylo (at least I had such a weird name for a dog!). It was a "normal" (i.e. overburdened) emergency shelter in central-northern Italy, and there I waited for someone to see me...
I've waited, waited, waited... I've waited 13 long years!!! Of course, I was not alone in the box and my comrades in captivity were not friendly: I was bitten many times and almost d.i.e.d more than once because they would not let me eat, but I fought back.
And finally, an angel named Monica noticed me! She decided to get me out of there and give me a happy few months. She entrusted me to her friends Sandra and Silvana who took care of me!
I was thin and crippled with osteoarthritis... I remember it was winter when I got to them and they had prepared a very soft bed for me in front of the wood stove... I didn't know what kind of house was and this warmth, oh my god, what luck! I spent 2 days with my back glued to the heat, it was heaven for me!!
Despite all the predictions that I would die quickly, I recovered. Yes, nobody would have believed that I would live almost 3 years! And in these 3 years I've been loved and pampered, I've eaten well, I've slept warm... but old age can't stop!!
Now I'm dead but I'm dead HAPPY because someone gave me hope and a few years of happiness but I can't help but think that if Monica hadn't saved me there would be nothing left of me now, no picture, no memory, no one would mourn my death! And that, unfortunately, is the fate that befalls so many dogs who spend their entire lives in a shelter, in general indifference.
So before you give birth to new dogs, think of me!
And before you buy a dog, think of me!! A single happy day can redeem a lifetime of suffering, so adopt an old dog from a shelter if you can!💔"
