Don't forget to mark your calendars for January 20th from 3-5 (and every 3rd Sunday of the month). This month Debbie Courtney, LSCSW (Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker), will be joining Ribbons of Hope to talk about Mental Health & Wellness. Please join us for some friendship, tips and tricks for dealing with anxiety and winter blues, and cancer support. This event is free, open to the public and will be held at Circle C Cafe in Paola, KS. Come for the speaker, stay for the meeting! See you there!

Alright Y'All! Hang on cause here we go! The first support group meeting of 2013 will be held on January 20th from 3-5 p.m. at Circle C Cafe in Paola. The topic will be Mental Health discussing stress reduction, loving yourself, and mental wellness! The Holidays have been rough on many of us. This is a GREAT way to renew and recharge yourself. Let's get started on the right path!

In May there are plans in the works to have a Vineyard Crawl Fundraiser. There are several vineyards in the area. Should be a LOT of fun! Stay tuned for more info!

January's theme will be Mental Wellness (and no I am not bringing in a shrink to fix all your problems). ;-) There will be a conversation on ways to boost your mood, love yourself, and deal with anxiety. I am convinced that this will be a great kick-off for the New Year! More details to come!

It has been quite a while since I've posted on this page. Starting in January there will be a Cancer Support Group Meeting on the 2nd Sunday of the month from 2-4 p.m. There will again be a speaker for the first part and then some time afterward to speak to others in the group. I know we don't want to need a support group but I hope that you will consider attending if you have cancer, know someone with cancer and would like help getting through the rough times, or are a caregiver to someone who is battling cancer. So many people are burdened with this HORRIBLE thing called Cancer. We will stick together and we will get through it! See you in January!

Hey gang! Less than 3 hours til we hear and talk about SPIRITUALITY at Circle C Cafe! I can't wait! I hope there is a great turn-out! Please keep in mind this isn't necessarily about God...it's about the "why me" questions that we are faced with when things in our lives aren't going as we hope or expect. I will see you all in a few hours!

The next speaker has been scheduled. Please join us and bring a friend. This is a free event and open to the public. We want to provide support for others who are fighting the fight! The focus on the presentation is to help answer the "Why me" questions that we have when faced with a difficult situation. There will also be a support group meeting immediately following the presentation for anyone needing resources, a shoulder, or anything else that we are able to offer! SEE YOU THERE!

I just stumbled on a group called Stupid Cancer. It is now one of my "likes". Check it out. It is directed at cancer patients and new diagnosis under the age of 40. The guy who started it was diagnosed with Cancer at the age of 22. Prior to diagnosis he was going to be a concert pianist. The brain cancer caused nerve damage in his fingers and he was told he would not play concert piano. He now has 2 albums and plays benefit concerts to benefit Stupid Cancer. Read his story by clicking the attached link!

Editor’s Note: September is traditionally one month of the year set aside to heighten men’s awareness of cancer prevention. In line with its mission to educate cancer survivors about preventing cancer recurrence or second cancers, this September CancerForward features “Five Fellas Forward,” a series...
