Kylie Corbin received the Suzy Wilcox Education Scholarship during the Paola High School scholarship night. This was the first year for this scholarship to be awarded. Suzy's family started the scholarship with the Miami County Community Foundation after she passed away from complications due to ALS.

The Suzy Wilcox Education Scholarship was created to honor the life and legacy of Suzy Wilcox, a devoted educator whose compassion, dedication, and belief in the potential of every child left a lasting impact on countless students, colleagues, and families.

Suzy taught in the Paola USD 368 School District for many years before her retirement in 2018. Prior to that, she spent several years teaching in the Olathe School District, where her commitment to early childhood education and her advocacy for students with disabilities were especially evident. In recognition of her excellence in teaching, Suzy was nominated for the Kansas Teacher of the Year Award in 2016 for USD 368— an honor that reflected her outstanding professionalism, creativity, and heart for her students.

Outside the classroom, Suzy was a loving mother of three, and she continued to share her passion for teaching by volunteering with Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at her church. Her life embodied kindness, service, and faith — qualities that continue to inspire future educators through this scholarship.

Congratulations Kylie and best of luck in furthering your education at Emporia State University!!!
