Meet the people helping Northside Pride enter its next chapter. These 5 individuals are officially the first Operational Board of Directors in Northside Pride’s history.

What makes this group special isn’t that they all come from the same place.
They don’t.
They bring different ages, professional experiences, industries, networks, and perspectives to the table.
That’s intentional.

Northside Pride is growing—and our leadership needs to grow with it.
Over the next year, these five leaders will help us strengthen the organization behind the work:
🗺️ Tourism Advocacy.
💰Economic Development.
🤝Civic Engagement.

They’ll help us build systems, expand partnerships, increase organizational capacity, and create a stronger foundation for Northside Pride’s future.

We are proud to introduce to you:
👏🏾 Jazzmann LeSane - Volunteer Chair
👏🏾 Monique Stewart - Partnership Chair
👏🏾 Jonathan Lundy - Marketing & Communications Chair
👏🏾 Chelbi Robinson - Program Co-Chair
👏🏾 Jamie Travis-Leonard - Program Co-Chair

Tap the heart to welcome them to their new role!

Make a note 📝 on October 15-18 Your Northside Neighbor Dana Michelle Maule will be representing Jacksonville in Milwaukee, WI for the 2026 Black Travel Summit 🛫😎✊🏾. Dana will be a featured workshop facilitator. The workshop is titled “Enhancing Visibility and Pride: Tourism Policy and Advocacy.” Participants gain confidence working inside tourism systems—not just around them. They will leave with actionable strategies they can immediately apply in their cities.

She will also be a judge for the Passport to Storytelling competition. Passport to Storytelling is the premier competition designed to elevate the next generation of Black storytellers, creators, and visionaries. This program provides a rare opportunity to present original concepts directly to network partners and C-level industry executives, offering real access to the decision-makers shaping the future of film, television, and digital content.

The rain didn’t stop the show! Thank you to the neighbors and friends who came to the screening of Film Screening: Unfiltered - the truth about oysters with St. Johns Riverkeeper for Florida Climate Week.

Our host Trey Ford did an amazing job facilitating the conversation and making the connection with local advocates and conservationists.

S/o to the Oyster Queen Marshiray Wellington the founder of Oyster Fest and Riverview Collective Community Organization. We were happy to see Matanzas Oysters and learn about aquaculture and their oyster farm. We also learned so much from Jax Oyster Conservation about what oysters are doing on the Trout and Ribault River.

The icing on the cake! Chucha Barber, the executive producer of Unfiltered. Her passion to share the story of oysters and the Apalchicola Bay was inspiring https://www.chuchabarber.com/

Something BIG has been taking shape behind the scenes at Northside Pride.

For the first time in our organization’s history, Northside Pride has a Board of Directors.
And getting here took more than simply picking names.

It took conversations. It took community insight. It took thoughtful consideration of what Northside Pride needs to grow.

After a community-driven selection process, 5 individuals were selected to become the first Northside Pride Board of Directors.

Let me introduce you to the nomination committee. These are the people who helped make this decision possible:
🧩 Dawn Curling, CEO of Jax Melanin Market
🧩 Jimmy Orth, Executive Director of St. Johns Riverkeeper
🧩 Eduardo Santos, Director of District Services Downtown Vision, Inc.
🧩 Marshiray Wellington, Founder of Oyster Fest and Riverview Collective Community Organization

I’m pulling back the curtain to show you how we plan to expand our capacity, strengthen our operations, and build the foundation for the future of Jacksonville’s Northside.

Stay tuned.
Your Northside Neighbor,
Dana Michelle

P.S.
So much love to No Bird. This co-working and event space has been extremely valuable to our work. They are community conscious and love nonprofit workers! Thank you for letting us take up space and for being such a beautiful and serene place for us to do the work that means so much to us 🙏🏾

The coffee was free. The kindness was priceless.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by Cafe Resistance, supported the celebration. This is what community looks like. This is Northern Pride!
