Services:
Domestic Violence Program:
-Hotline: The program provides hotline counseling 24 hours per day seven days per week to individuals who think they might be a victim of domestic violence. Lethality assessments are conducted and the victim is given options and provided assistance in making the best choices for themselves and their children. Many times information and referrals are provided to not only victims, but individuals who may be concerned about someone they think may be a victim.

-Shelter Program: This program has a 20 bed safe house for victims of domestic violence and their dependents who are currently in danger, who are fearful of being in danger, or who have been in danger of being emotionally or physically abused. While residing at the safe house individuals are provided with safety and security where they are able to rest and make decisions that will benefit themselves and their children. Counselors are available 24 hours a day to provide counseling and other supportive services to victims. Food, personal hygiene items, laundry facility and detergent, shoes and clothing are provided to individuals residing in the safe house free of charge. Shelter is a communal living situation and individuals who can not function in that type of environment will need to seek shelter in another location. Every effort will be made by program staff to assist these individuals in locating other housing arrangements. Transitional Housing:
-Transitional Housing is available to clients in need of intensive, residential services

There are eight two-bedroom apartments available for families that are homeless or in transitional crisis. Programming assists clients in setting goals to overcome factors beyond their immediate control. The program provides a real life training ground for self-sufficiency, budget management and home economic skills. Program participants may stay at the facility for up to six months, although each client’s case is evaluated for progress on a regular basis. This program began operation in the community in 1995. Transitional Housing clients are required to maintain gainful employment and open a savings account. They pay a small fee for housing, utilities and supervision based on their ability to pay and in keeping with their program budget. The program provides a clean, positive environment for the family to gain skills and resources to establish permanent residence in the community. As the client nears their goal of independent living, other material assistance is provided to ease their transition into affordable commercial housing. The capacity of each apartment in Transitional Housing is a total of six individuals. Apartments are available that are equipped for individuals with special needs. Direct Assistance:
-Point of need services provided by the Family Assistance Office includes emergency food and clothing distribution. Individuals and families are provided with food and articles of clothing based on need and situation. Homeless individuals without the means to cook are given ready-made food. Clothing articles are distributed based on seasonal weather changes or life changes, such as the release of an individual from incarceration. Clients are interviewed to assess whether their need is chronic and referrals to other available programs of The Salvation Army or the community is indicated. Family Assistance also provides qualified individuals and families assistance in securing permanent residence. Furniture and household goods are supplied as needed and available. The Salvation Army provides rent and utility assistance as a part of the case management process. To see if you qualify for assistance, call 850-769-5259

PLEASE BE ADVISED:

What a wonderful time of worship today at The Salvation Army of Panama City!

Lt. Tony reminded us that if you are a follower of Jesus, you have been called! Each of us has a purpose and a part to play in sharing God's love and serving others.

A special thank you to 2 yr Cadet Ed for sharing his calling with us through video and reminding us of the many ways God works in our lives!

May we each continue to answer God's call with willing hearts and faithful lives.
