A Mothers Day poem honoring All Delta Women
Today we gather wrapped in crimson grace,
Bound not only by letters, but by legacy.
We are women of purpose,
Women of prayer,
Women who have carried communities
On tired shoulders and faithful hearts.
And on this Mother’s Day weekend,
We pause to honor the women
Who taught us how to rise.
The mothers who prayed in the midnight hour.
The grandmothers who stretched little into much.
The aunties, mentors, and sister-friends
Who stood in the gap when life became heavy.
The women who whispered,
“Keep going, baby,”
When the road became long.
In sisterhood, we find strength.
In service, we find purpose.
In each other, we find home.
Because Delta women are not ordinary women.
We are bridge builders and burden bearers.
We are educators, advocates, nurturers, and leaders.
We know how to stand tall in boardrooms
And still kneel humbly in prayer rooms.
We know how to organize movements
And still comfort a hurting child.
A Delta sister’s love is powerful.
It is seen in the hand extended,
The scholarship given,
The encouragement spoken,
The meals prepared,
The tears wiped away,
And the wisdom passed from one generation to another.
And just like mothers,
We carry the gift of cultivation.
We know how to water dreams.
We know how to protect futures.
We know how to speak life into broken places
Until hope begins to bloom again.
So today we celebrate every mother—
Biological mothers, spiritual mothers,
Community mothers, and sister-mothers.
We celebrate the women
Who have mothered through sacrifice,
Loved through pain,
And remained faithful through every season.
May we continue to walk together in unity,
Serve together in excellence,
And love one another with sincerity.
For when Delta women stand together,
Communities are transformed,
Young women are empowered,
Families are strengthened,
And history continues to be written
In crimson and cream.
Happy Mother’s Day
To every phenomenal woman in this room.
May your strength be honored,
May your love be celebrated,
And may your legacy continue
To inspire generations yet to come.
