The Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) program is an international pre-university curriculum and examination system for academically able students. It is a flexible, broad-based, two-year curriculum, which is offered worldwide in schools and colleges. AICE features courses written specifically as preparation for honors degree programs. It encourages high academic standards and

provides an ideal basis for study at the college and university level. The AICE program at Bay High School includes a pre-AICE program for freshmen and sophomores with advancement to the Advanced International Certificate of Education program during the junior and senior years. An AICE Diploma is awarded on the basis of examination scores and course work performance during six full-credit courses. By requiring students take a minimum of six full-credit courses with at least one course chosen from each of the three subject areas, the AICE Diploma ensures that all students follow a broad and balanced academic program. Advanced (A) Level and Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level certificates listing subjects passed are issued to those students who do not earn the full diploma. Within this framework, AICE offers an extremely flexible curriculum which can be tailored to students’ interests, abilities, and future plans. The AICE program is an innovative and accelerated method of study offered through University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), a division of University of Cambridge, Cambridge, England. For over 170 years the prestigious University of Cambridge has been setting worldwide curriculum standards through their examinations. American universities have responded enthusiastically to AICE. The Florida Legislature has identified AICE as a graduation option and acceleration mechanism through which students can be awarded up to 45 hours of college credit. Students earning the AICE Diploma qualify for the highest level Florida Bright Futures Academic tuition scholarship. Students completing the curriculum can earn the Florida Bright Futures Medallion tuition scholarship. Students who complete the AICE curriculum will be provided the best possible foundation for advanced post secondary studies anywhere in the world. Bay High School is proud to be one of the first high schools to offer the AICE program in the United States. If you have any questions regarding the program, please contact the AICE Coordinator, Marlene Morris Bland:

Bay High alumni, families, and friends: this summer we’re giving our trophy cases a much-needed makeover, and we’d love your help bringing Bay High history back to life!

Do you have any old Bay High memorabilia tucked away at home? We’re looking for items to display that celebrate the legacy and accomplishments of our Tornadoes through the years... things like:
- Championship trophies
- District, Regional, or State medals/awards
- Old jerseys or uniforms
- Letterman jackets
- Pom poms
- Vintage photos
…and any other unique Bay High treasures!

If you’d like to donate (or loan) an item for display, please drop it off at Building 1 Administration/Attendance with the memo: c/o SGA. If it is on loan, please note who to return it to with a mailing address.

While we appreciate every accomplishment, we are especially looking for milestone pieces and memorabilia tied to major achievements and memorable moments in Bay High history.

Old photos can also be emailed to [email protected] so we can help preserve and showcase the stories of generations of Tornadoes.

Help us celebrate over 100 years of Bay High pride and make these trophy cases something special for current and future students to enjoy!

Even with the end of the year in sight, learning never stops! 📚✨

Ms. Kettering’s Pre-AICE English class brought literature to life during a Socratic Seminar, using two balls of yarn to track connections and discussions between the two texts they explored. Students led the conversation themselves, building deeper understanding and strengthening their critical thinking skills along the way!

It’s always exciting to see students collaborating, communicating, and making meaningful connections through learning!🌪❤🖤
