I moved back to Panama City in March of 2018. I hadn’t gotten out of my car at my friends apt before I saw cats and kittens everywhere! I was told we were not allowed to feed them. Ha! I went to the grocery store next to the apt complex to buy food. I saw MORE cats and kittens EVERYWHERE! One of the cats was injured. I called Animal Control to help this cat and was told I would be

fined if I fed them. And their response to the injured cat was “it’s the survival of the fittest. That’s how they w**d themselves out”! Everywhere I went; work, shopping, residential and commercial neighborhoods, there were cats and kittens EVERYWHERE! The number of homeless, abandoned, sick, injured and hungry kittens and cats is of epidemic proportions in Bay County FL. There was absolutely no way I was going to ignore the plight of these helpless animals. And so it started. I met 2 people who were doing TNR (trap, neuter, release) and they helped me get the cats spayed, neutered and vaccinated. But that wasn’t enough. What about after? They needed consistent feeding, shelter, monitoring for sickness and injury and LOVE! I started making shelters out of Styrofoam coolers I trashed picked from pet store dumpsters and wood I trashed picked from work. I was a “one woman show” helping and saving cats and kittens. I founded my nonprofit, Street Cat Society (DBA of Cat Covers food and Love Inc.) in Feb 2019. I had to operate “under cover” because what I was doing is illegal in Bay County, FL. But soon, the property owners and business managers saw what a huge difference I was making. No more kittens and cats in dumpsters looking for food, hanging out in parking lots begging for food. They didn’t even see the cats anymore. I earned the trust and cooperation to continue to work to help the cats. I still had a big problem. No one knew about me- I couldn’t “advertise” because of the laws. I didn’t have any funding, grants or benefactors. I had to support my mission by myself, financially and physically. In first year alone, I spent $24,000 of my own money. The costs increased over the next 6 years and my resources depleted. I don’t care how many times I get fined or told I can’t do it. I WILL NEVER GIVE UP! One person CAN make a difference! It doesn’t have to be on the scale I do, but helping just one cat DOES matter! Molly Grady, President and Founder, Street Cat Society

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Take care of the cats on your street/in your yard/community. Get the neighbors to help you. Even getting 1 cat fixed and fed is a big help. A handful of people cannot do this alone. "It takes a village to raise a child." It also takes a village to help the homeless animals. Make an effort. It doesn't have to be big, one small step is so much better than no step at all. Facebook https://www.facebook.com/StreetCatSocietyPC

Update on 2 sick kitties in 1 of my colonies.
I recently posted a video about these 2 kitties. I spent a total of 5 hrs on Sunday and only 1 hr today to catch these 2! I finally figured out that the drop trap spooks Tom and thats why he's been so elusive all these years when I've tried to catch him for various reasons. Brittany was the easier of the 2 to catch. They are going to vet to be tested for FIV, Lukemenia and heartworm. They both look really bad, esp Tom. Ive been taking care of them for 8 years and I know when something is wrong.
Its difficult to see their condition in these pics.
I just wish I would have known how to catch Tom, sooner.
If the outcome is bad, I may or may not post the results. I can't bring myself to post bad stories. I can't read them either 😪😔

In this video I mentioned 3 sick kitties. The 3rd kitty is in a different colony and I have never posted about him. Also, I neglected to mention how critically important TNR is! If people would/ could fix their cats, not abandon them and dont let intact cats outside to roam there wouldn't be all these kittens that grow up and reproduce!!
(Btw, the trap is not set because I need Tom to get used to it)

This poor kitty is breaking my heart! He has been getting worse and worse. Ive tried to catch him before but no success. He's sick enough now I'm going to try again. Even if it takes all day, I'm going to catch him. BUT I can't help him without you. He needs your help for a veterinarian. He needs to be tested for FIV and Lukemenia.
I've had SO MANY cats in need of medical help😪

(BTW, I'm going to have to get up at 330 am to be able to get all my cats fed and him to vet by 8am!)

I just took Taffy Jo home and now I'm at tire shop getting a nail out of my tire!
Taffy has small abnormal structure that has blood supply in the L cranial abdomen. Difficult to tell but possibly from previous trauma. (Considering where she lived for so many years, this makes the most sense).
Also, small area of intestine where wall is abnormal and thickened with slight loss of wall layering. Could be IBS, lymphoma or other intestinal cancer. We are going to treat as IBS, with steroid injections once monthly.
Stomach is extremely distended with ingesta diarrhea present in colon.
She got another convenia injection just to keep her skin and hair healing well.
So basically, she will go for steriod (Depo) injections monthly for now and as long as she is doing as well as she is now, she will stay with me and live a happy, safe and loved life. ❤️❤️😻🥰
