Recently, we had the opportunity to close Stephanie's case after completing accessibility improvements to her bathroom.

Thanks to the generosity of a local donor, Stephanie is one of several neighbors we have been able to serve through this program.

Before closing her case, Tammy stopped by with a small gift basket. One of the greatest parts of this work isn't just the projects we complete but the relationships we build along the way.

Thank you to the donors, volunteers, and community partners who make moments like this possible.

What a great week at the Alabama-West Florida Annual Conference!

We enjoyed the opportunity to share the work of Abide Community, reconnect with familiar faces, and meet new friends who share a passion for serving others.

Throughout the conference, we had meaningful conversations about disaster recovery, affordable housing, aging in place, and ways churches can make a lasting impact in their communities.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table. We look forward to continuing these conversations and working together to bring hope, housing, and healing to the communities we serve.

Communities recover differently.

For some, recovery means a safer way to enter and leave their home.

For others, it means volunteers showing up to make critical repairs, rebuilding after disaster, or helping create stable housing for a fresh start.

No two journeys look exactly alike, but one thing remains the same: recovery happens when people come together.

Every project, every volunteer, every partner, and every act of support helps strengthen our communities and creates opportunities for people to move forward with dignity, safety, and hope.

Preparedness looks different from community to community.

For some, it may mean planning for hurricanes. For others, it may mean preparing for tornadoes, flooding, severe storms, or other local hazards.

No matter where you live, knowing where to find reliable information before an emergency occurs is one of the simplest steps you can take to protect yourself, your family, and your community.

The best time to learn about local resources is before you need them.

Several months ago, we shared Michelle's story after a tornado changed her life.

Last week, Chris and Trish stopped by to check in.

What stood out most wasn't the house itself. It was the garden taking shape, the plants on the porch, and the sense of peace that comes from finally having a place to call home.

Recovery doesn't happen overnight. Sometimes it looks like tomatoes growing in the garden, flowers on the porch, and the freedom to make plans for tomorrow.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. πŸ’™

What does preparedness look like?

Sometimes it looks like training.
Sometimes it looks like planning.
Sometimes it looks like mitigation work before disaster strikes.
And sometimes it looks like practical tools, projects, and people working together.

Strong communities are built long before challenges arise.

Many seniors and veterans in our community want the same simple thing, to remain safe, comfortable, and independent in the homes they know and love.

Through aging-in-place and home mitigation efforts, we work alongside local households to help make that possible through accessibility improvements, safety repairs, and home modifications that can make a meaningful difference.

These projects may look small to some, but for the people we serve, they often mean greater independence, security, and peace of mind.

If you’ve ever wanted to make a direct impact right here in our community, your support helps us continue this work for local seniors and veterans.
