The Compassionate Friends/ Bay County Chapter

The Compassionate Friends/ Bay County Chapter Compassionate Friends are parents, grandparents and siblings coming together to aid and assist each other through the grieving process.

The Compassionate Friends offers more than 660 meeting locations around the country. In small towns and large cities, bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents meet together to talk, listen, share, and provide each other emotional support after the devastating death of a child. When you attend chapter sessions, you will not find professionals running the meetings and giving advice but parents w

ho have experienced the loss of a child, grandchild or sibling and can attest to what you may be experiencing. All are welcome to attend no matter the age or experience, no one comes to judge another.

When I’m gone, don’t hesitate to tell the stories, even the funny ones I might pretend to be embarrassed by.

Especially those.

Don’t fear the photos.

Let them fall out of drawers, be framed on your shelves, pop up on your phone when you least expect it.

Let them remind you that I was here. That I lived and I loved and I mattered.

Listen to my voicemails— yes, even the ones where I sound rushed or silly.

Let my voice be a comfort, not a trigger.

Let it remind you that I once called just to say, “I love you,” and I meant it every time.

Don’t avoid the places we went together.

Go back.

Order my favorite drink.

Laugh if you cry. Cry if you laugh.

Both are okay.

Please don’t shut out the memories.

Let them breathe.

Let them visit you like gentle whispers reminding you I’m not entirely gone.

Not really.

Let the memories keep me close.

Not to hold you back— but to remind you how deeply you were loved.

Picked up some plants today to be planted in the garden tomorrow. Will be there at 9 if anyone would like to stop by and help. Shovels and gloves.

Any help is appreciated since I am still recuperating from my hospital stay this week.
