Join us on Monday, October 12 at 6 p.m. in the Commissioners Chamber at the Government Center, for a review of the amendments. Attorney Cecile Scoon, who served on the Panama City Charter Review Board, will inform us about both the Statewide Amendments (of which there are 3) and the Panama City Charter Amendments.

The names of the statewide amendments (which may or may not really reflect their meaning) are:
1. Budget Stabilization Fund
2. Exemption of Tangible Personal Property on Agricultural Land from Taxation
3. Save Our Homes From Excessive Property Taxes--this is the amendment that has been most talked about re: the impact it may have on local governments.

There are three Panama City Charter proposed amendments
1. Government Structure and Elections
2. Administration and Operations
3. Charter Modernization and Compliance

The purpose of this forum is to ensure the community is informed, as several of these above amendments will directly impact your wallet, your services and your political representation.

October 5, 2026 is the last day to register to vote in the General Election.

Register to vote online at https://registertovoteflorida.gov/home

If planning to register online you must submit your online application before the deadline, 11:59:59 p.m. eastern time.

You will need:
Your Florida driver license or Florida identification card issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles (Use your most currently issued license or card number); The issued date of your Florida DL or Florida ID card; and The last four digits of your Social Security Number.

Note: If you do not have any of the information above, you may still use the online system to prefill a voter registration application form. However, you will have to print, sign, and deliver your voter registration application to your county Supervisor of Elections office.

If planning to deliver your voter registration application to the Bay County Supervisor of Elections office you must arrive at 830 W. 11th St. Panama City, FL before 5 p.m. eastern time.

Dear Bay County NAACP,

Will will hold our monthly Community Roundtable/General Membership meeting this coming Monday, September 21 at 6 p.m at Greater Bethel AME Church.

We will open with a brief business meeting, to select the Nominating Committee, as we prepare for our own branch elections in November.

Following the business meeting, Attorney Cecile Scoon will inform us on the 3 Statewide Constitutional Amendments to be voted on in the General Election in November. The names of the amendments (which may or may not really reflect their meaning) are:

3. Save Our Homes From Excessive Property Taxes-this is the amendment that has been most talked about re: the impact it may have on local governments.

Attorney Scoon will also give us information on the voter registration process, things we need to know if we belong to an organization doing voter registration and/or registration of our family, friends and neighbors.

Dear Bay County NAACP Membership and Supporters,
Please join us for our monthly Community Roundtable / General Membership meeting.

We are pleased to have Beverly Wall as our guest presenter. Ms. Wall is the founder of Corvus Blue Communications and the former President of the Bay County DWC.

As we move toward the General Election on November 3, we know we need to focus on getting out the vote. According to the Bay County Supervisor of Elections, this primary election saw a little over 26% voter turnout. So we know there are many registered voters who chose to stay at home. We want to brainstorm ways on how to improve voter turnout. Ms. Wall is a member of the Bay County Civic Engagement Coalition and can speak to the communication networks to make greater voter turnout a reality.

In partnership with the Bay County Civic Engagement Coalition, plans are underway to celebrate National Voter Registration Day on September 15 and Souls to the Polls on October 25.

Start your week strong!! Early Voting is still ongoing and ends August 15th. You can go to any Early Voting site and cast your ballot between 10:00am to 6:00pm.

Your signature matters!! 🖋️🖋️Make sure your Vote by Mail return envelope is signed and matches the name printed on the envelope and the signature in your voter record.

Vote by Mail ballots must be returned to the Supervisor of Elections office no later than 7:00 PM on Election Day.
