Congratulations to LaFredia Gaines, our Support Worker Employee of the Quarter!

LaFredia is a Family Support Worker in our In Home Case Management unit, where she works closely with children, parents, and caregivers to provide guidance, encouragement, and real-life support throughout the life of a case. Many of the families we serve are navigating mental health and substance use challenges, and LaFredia is dedicated to helping parents feel supported in their recovery journey while building stronger connections at home. From teaching coping skills and encouraging self-advocacy to helping families build natural support systems, she’s there to help families grow, heal, and thrive together.

This quarter, LaFredia is also being recognized for the incredible support she provides to her coworkers. No matter the situation, she’s always willing to step in and help when needed.

Congratulations to Nickay Duncan, our Case Worker Employee of the Quarter!

Nickay is a Dependency Case Manager and this quarter we are proud to recognize her for the incredible growth, dedication, and teamwork she brings to TOCS every day.

Over the past several months, Nickay has shown tremendous professional growth. She has stepped into her role with confidence and grace, taking on difficult conversations, making sound independent decisions, and demonstrating poise in the courtroom. Her attention to detail, accountability, and commitment to her cases have truly made a difference for the children and families we serve.

What stands out even more is Nickay’s dedication to her team and willingness to step up whenever needed. Whether it’s covering on-call shifts, helping with transports, or making long drives across the state on back-to-back nights to ensure children get where they need to be safely, she consistently goes above and beyond without hesitation.

Twin Oaks Community Services helps children navigate the foster care system and connect them to adoptive families.

Some of Monday's adoptions include siblings who are now able to stay together after spending years in the system.

These are the days we live for! Today we celebrated 6 families who opened up their hearts and their homes to be forever families to 10 children in the foster care system.

Today's Spring Adoption event had it all. A large sibling group, a special needs child, teenage siblings, and even grandmothers adopting grandchildren.

Special thanks to the Dow Family, who shared the story of their family's adoption journey. And especially to Candra, who is now thriving in her forever family, for bravely sharing her story.

She graciously provided her notes to us so that you could read her story and hopefully be moved to help other children like her find someone who will "love and nurture" them into "the best version" of themselves.

Every accomplished goal represents the dedication, collaboration, and compassion of those working each day to create brighter futures for the children and families we serve!

What a morning! Today we wrapped up our annual Home For The Holidays campaign with our Christmas Day Adoption event. We couldn’t ask for a better way to celebrate the perfect gift of love, joy and peace in Jesus, than to watch families tangibly experience that very love, joy and peace.

Thank you to our Circuit 14 Dependency Judges Dustin Stephenson and Russell Roberts, Adoption Attorneys Todd Brister and Jenna Garmon, NWF Health Network Director of Communications Maryann Roberts, and the Twin Oaks Adoption Team for making today’s event possible.

This year’s campaign provided 18 kids in out of home care the opportunity to wake up on Christmas morning with family!

🎁 10 were adopted
🎁 5 were reunified with their parents
🎁 3 transitioned out of foster homes and into their relative’s home.

Thank you to our Twin Oaks Adoptions, Case Management, Safety Management, Visitation, and Wraparound staff! None of this is possible without your unwavering commitment to the children and families we serve.
