The movement of God’s Word predates us by thousands of years. It’s there in the pages of Scripture and throughout church history. It continues on today, bringing life wherever it goes. We long to see God’s Word flowing powerfully through every church to every nation. But that vision isn’t a reality everywhere yet. For God’s life-giving Word to have its transforming effect, pastors around the world

need to discover the depths of its richness and power – first for themselves and then for their people. Together, WordPartners is developing a team of global partners who encourage and equip pastors to teach God’s Word with God’s heart. Learn more at https://wordpartners.org/

-Pray for the cohort in San Diego as we begin to prepare for the Genesis workshop scheduled for this fall.
-Thank God for WordPartners’ fruitful partnership with the Praetorian Projects as they seek to multiply churches in military communities.
-Please pray that God will open more opportunities for us to conduct micro-workshops for local churches.
-Pray for a partner-led group in North Carolina where women’s ministry leaders from six churches are being equipped to train the women in their churches to study God’s Word.
-Pray for developing opportunities to serve pastors in underserved areas like the inner city and small town / rural communities.
-Pray that we and our training partners have faith to believe that: He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32 (ESV)

Have you ever been lost in the middle of a city with no clue where you were or which way to go?

That is the experience of many Christians when they read the Old Testament. They open the Bible, begin reading, and soon find themselves in a place that seems totally different from the New Testament world. The seemingly random stories, genealogies, strange laws, and occasional talking donkey make for a sometimes confusing read.

If that’s you—don’t panic! This is a simple guide that will help you understand how Jesus relates to the Old Testament and will act as a road map to steer you in the right direction as you study God’s Word.

The Bible is one book telling one story that culminates in One Person: Jesus Christ. The discipline of Biblical Theology helps us see the overarching story of the Bible along with how each piece fits into the whole and testifies of Jesus Christ. The Old Testament prepares the way for and points to Christ, while the New Testament reveals and explains who He is. The Old Testament displays a “shadow” of Christ whom we experience in the New Testament (see Colossians 2:16-17).

We often pray, “Lord, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Yet, we frequently wonder, “Lord, what are You doing right now on earth?”

In Matthew 9, Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:37-38 ESV). So, what is the Lord doing? He is raising up many laborers from outside the USA to take the gospel to the nations! In a world inundated with troubling news, we can take heart: Jesus is building His church. He hears our prayers and is answering by sending out workers. May this encourage our worship, our prayers, our giving, and our going...

“But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one.” (Hebrews 10:32-34 ESV)

The same path of costly faith, once walked by the early church, is still being walked today across much of Asia. In parts of Southeast Asia, pastors are faithfully proclaiming Christ in the face of poverty, opposition, and pressure to give up. Yet, they keep preaching. They keep enduring. And they are not alone:

Only the Lamb of God who was slain is worthy to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing (Rev. 5:12). But for those of us on whom his grace has been freely lavished, there is a way to live that demonstrates the incomparable worth of the gospel we’ve received. Paul describes this manner of life in Philippians, and it’s a great way for us to 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐲:

- Pray that we would stand firm in one spirit in the face of adversity, threats, and discouragements.
- Pray that we would strive side-by-side for the faith of the gospel, not in a selfish spirit of competition, but in a united resolve to make much of Christ.
- Pray that we would be fearless in our efforts to make disciples of all the nations, knowing that no obstacle can thwart Christ’s promise to build his church.

As God answers these prayers, along with the specific requests mentioned below for our work in Asia and around the world, we will be enabled by his gracious Spirit 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭.
