Some heroes leave behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. Today, we honor and remember U.S. Army Specialist Frederick Zebulen Greene, who tragically lost his life on November 5, 2009, during the Fort Hood shooting in Texas at just 29 years old.

A native of Mountain City, Tennessee, SPC Greene proudly served his country with dedication, courage, and honor. Beyond his military service, he was a loving husband, devoted father of two daughters, and a man remembered for his kindness, intelligence, and compassion.

For his service and sacrifice, SPC Greene was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, among other military honors. His legacy continues to live on through his family, his community, and the countless Americans who remember his sacrifice.

At the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial, we are honored to have SPC Frederick Zebulen Greene's name permanently etched into our Wall, ensuring that his sacrifice and memory will never be forgotten.

🕊️ We will always remember. We will always honor. We will never forget.

On October 23, 1983, one of the deadliest attacks against American military personnel overseas forever changed the lives of hundreds of families and left a lasting mark on our nation's history.

On that tragic morning in Beirut, Lebanon, a terrorist attack on the U.S. Marine barracks claimed the lives of 241 American service members, including 220 Marines, 18 sailors, and 3 soldiers. A separate attack on French military headquarters also claimed the lives of 58 French paratroopers.

These brave men were serving as part of an international peacekeeping mission, answering the call of duty in a region torn apart by conflict. Their courage, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice remain a powerful reminder of the tremendous price paid by those who serve our nations.

Today, on the 43rd anniversary of the Beirut Barracks Bombing, we at the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial pause to remember and honor every life lost on October 23, 1983.

We also stand alongside the Gold Star families, surviving service members, and loved ones who continue to carry their memories forward. Their sacrifice is not simply a moment in history; it is a legacy that must be preserved for generations to come.

❤️ 241 American heroes. 58 French heroes. One solemn promise: WE WILL NEVER FORGET.

🇺🇸 May their courage always be remembered, their sacrifice forever honored, and their names never forgotten.
