We’re proud to celebrate on receiving the Multi-Family Energy Savings (MFES) Premier Partner Award—recognizing a multi-year commitment to delivering energy-efficient, affordable housing across northern Illinois.

Through a strong partnership with ComEd, Nicor Gas, North Shore Gas, and Peoples Gas, we upgraded more than 2,000 units with energy-efficient appliances and equipment—helping thousands of residents reduce both energy use and utility costs.

The impact is significant:
- 💡 417,000+ kWh and 48,000+ therms saved
- 🌱 Nearly 1.4 million pounds of carbon emissions avoided
- 💰 Nearly $650,000 in energy cost savings redirected to resident services

A huge THANK YOU to the volunteer teams from AvalonBay Communities who spent time with us at several communities💙

From serving breakfast and sharing creativity through a rock painting activity in Westminster (a resident favorite!) to rolling up their sleeves at Clare Gardens for much-needed spring cleaning, every effort made a meaningful difference.

We ❤️ our volunteers

A big thank you to Vance and Dylan from & Jones Construction for helping us transform the community garden space at Crestview Village. They helped us build new trellises for vining vegetable plants, build a new herb garden wall, and plant many other veggies and herbs around the garden for the residents to enjoy this summer season!

We appreciate all that Vance & Dylan did at Crestview, and the long-standing partnership with Byrne & Jones Construction!

In 2025, Mercy Housing opened 12 new communities and expanded into new regions, bringing stable, affordable housing to more than 1,200 households.

Each new community represents more than housing. It represents stability, opportunity, and the ability for individuals and families to build a stronger future.
This continued growth reflects both the scale of need and the importance of sustained investment in affordable housing solutions. Thank you for being part of the Mercy Housing ecosystem!

Big milestone for housing in San Francisco 🎉

We recently celebrated the grand opening of community 1633 Valencia. This 145‑unit affordable housing community for seniors was delivered in record time—nearly half the cost and in a fraction of the timeline of typical developments.

Using creative financing and a collaborative design-build approach, the project is helping set a new standard for how we can deliver high-quality, supportive housing faster—and for those who need it most.

For some, it’s the first night of uninterrupted sleep in years. For others, it’s a child finally able to focus in school. For many, it’s the beginning of something that once felt out of reach, stability, confidence, a sense of belonging.

At Mercy Housing, these moments happen every day.

Sounds of celebration!

Residents at community Columbia Heights igathered for a special poetry event. Viktor, a Ukrainian poet with Multiple Sclerosis, who fled after Russia’s invasion, gathered with his fellow neighbors to read original poetry and stories from his newest collection. There were even a few songs, and Viktor was presented with a bound edition of his writings.
