Nova Ukraine is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the people of Ukraine and strengthening the civil society in Ukraine. Since 2014, Nova Ukraine supported vulnerable populations and development projects in Ukraine. Now we are providing emergency assistance to help people cope with the devastation and brutalities of the Russian aggression. We work closely with nonprofits, activists and volunteers all over Ukraine to provide quick response where it is needed most.

Not every rescue happens with both feet on the ground.

For emergency responders working at heights, every rope, harness, and carabiner plays a critical role in keeping them safe.

That’s why Nova Ukraine provided specialized rope rescue equipment to State Emergency Service (DSNS) teams in Ukraine’s Kirovohrad region. The delivery includes harnesses, helmets, ropes, carabiners, descent devices, and other essential gear designed for challenging rescue operations.

The work is already dangerous. The equipment should make it safer.

These rescuers put themselves in difficult situations to help others. We're proud to make sure they have more of the tools they need to protect themselves along the way.

Meet the HD-U-LITE PRO, a portable ultrasound scanner recently donated by Nova Ukraine to a medical team in Ukraine.

With high-quality imaging and a lightweight design, this device helps medical professionals examine patients quickly, without being tied to a traditional ultrasound room.

The team has already shared their thanks, even in the middle of their demanding work. But the gratitude goes both ways.

On the night of October 13–14, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russian forces launched 39 missiles and 128 drones, aimed at the Kyiv andKyiv region, and Kharkiv region. The attacks hit energy and critical infrastructure, including facilities supplying power and heat to civilians.

As emergency crews and energy workers respond, Ukrainians once again face the consequences of deliberate attacks on the systems people depend on most.

Last year, a Russian missile and drone attack severely damaged one of Ukraine’s leading centers for cardiovascular care, the Kyiv’s Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology.

As part of our growing partnership with the Institute, Nova Ukraine provided three portable ultrasound scanners to departments specializing in cardiac rehabilitation, heart rhythm disorders, and pulmonary hypertension.

These scanners are already helping doctors carry out essential procedures, guide medical instruments with greater precision, and care for patients every day.

The “Continuous Patient Care Pathway in Wartime” project is moving forward, with the aim of helping ensure uninterrupted medical care for people affected by the war.

The initiative focuses on healthcare facilities in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions and covers different stages of the patient journey, from primary and emergency care to hospital treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery.

As part of the project, Nova Ukraine’s medical team is preparing support for perinatal centers and maternity hospitals, including critical medical equipment and medicines.

Birth rates in frontline regions have declined significantly due to the ongoing war. Yet babies continue to be born, and maternity hospitals and perinatal centers remain essential for providing care to mothers and newborns. Understanding their current needs is an important step in preparing effective support.

The project is funded by the U.S. government and developed in partnership with БФ «Право на захист» (Right to Protection), the lead partner in Ukraine, and ZDOROVI | New Medicine for Ukraine,which leads the health component.

A small medical device has made a life-changing difference for three-year-old Angelina.

Diagnosed with a complex heart condition complicated by congenital scoliosis, Angelina needed specialized treatment. Doctors at Ukraine’s Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital determined that implanting an occluder was the best option.

Thanks to medical devices purchased and donated by Nova Ukraine, her doctors had the equipment they needed to treat her heart condition.

Angelina’s story is a reminder of why access to specialized medical equipment matters. Behind every device is a patient, a family, and a team of Ukrainian medical professionals working to give children the care they deserve.

At Nova Ukraine, we’re proud to support hospitals like Okhmatdyt by equipping Ukrainian doctors with the tools they need to save lives.

As millions of Ukrainians have been forced to flee their homes, some volunteers have headed in the opposite direction.

RESCUE, a documentary filmed in Ukraine’s frontline regions, follows the people who risk their lives to save animals left behind by war. Through destroyed villages, mined roads, and active shelling, these rescuers show what compassion looks like under extraordinary circumstances.

On October 15, RESCUE will make its U.S. premiere as the Opening Night selection at DOC LA, the Los Angeles Documentary Film Festival.

The film is a Ukrainian-American co-production between Every Animal and We Are All Animals, bringing these often-overlooked stories of courage and compassion to international audiences.

What does it mean to hold on to love, faith, and hope in the midst of war?

On October 18, Flowers Beyond the Dark, a documentary directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Iryna Pravylo, will screen at the 2nd Annual Ukrainian Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Through three interconnected stories, the film follows a couple of artists reunited after Russian occupation, an Orthodox priest in Bucha bearing witness to atrocities against civilians, and two Ukrainian soldiers reflecting on the personal cost of war.

Nova Ukraine is proud to serve as a nonprofit partner, supporting Ukrainian filmmakers and helping bring their stories to international audiences.

The screening will include a benefit for Ukraine and a Q&A with the film's producer.

Some of the most important records of Russia's war against Ukraine are already sitting on people's phones.

A video of an evacuation. A photograph of a damaged neighborhood. A recording from an air raid shelter. Even an ordinary moment of daily life during wartime.

The Ukraine War Archive collects and preserves these materials to document the experiences of Ukrainians, support future investigations, and safeguard the historical record.

But documentation depends on the people who witnessed these events.
If you have original photographs, videos, or audio recordings documenting life in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, you can submit them directly to the Ukraine War Archive. The Archive also welcomes eyewitness testimonies.

Stronger skills help build safer healthcare systems. 🩺

Two new training sessions are underway as part of our Ukraine Without Pain project, focusing on infection control and vascular access.

Participants are strengthening practical knowledge and clinical skills that support safer, higher-quality care for patients and healthcare teams.

These trainings are part of the longer-term work of investing in Ukrainian medical professionals and strengthening the systems that support them.
