This November, Californians have an opportunity to stand up for our environment and our communities by voting no on Prop 45.

Prop 45 would dismantle California’s bedrock environmental law, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

It would endanger our open space, farmland and important habitat, threaten our clean air and water, and cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars, all so oil and gas companies, private utilities, and corporations can increase their profits.

Green Foothills is actively engaged in the effort to stop this dangerous initiative.

The November 3 election includes several state and local measures that could have a big impact on affordable housing, open space, farmland, and California’s environmental protections.

Green Foothills has taken positions on four measures:

✅ YES on Prop 1 — Affordable housing, including funding for farmworker housing

❌ NO on Prop 43 — Protect majority-rule voting on citizen-initiated funding measures

❌ NO on Prop 45 — Protect CEQA and California’s environmental safeguards

✅ YES on Measure Q — Support affordable apartments for senior farmworkers in Half Moon Bay

Great news!

A big step forward for safer roads and protecting wildlife! I’m excited to announce that my bill, SB 1250, was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom!

Every year, wildlife-vehicle collisions put Californians at risk while taking a devastating toll on our wildlife. SB 1250 establishes a statewide framework to identify high-risk areas, improve coordination between transportation and wildlife agencies, and incorporate wildlife connectivity into future transportation planning.

Don Horsley Park at Tunitas Creek Beach opened recently and it is a gem! This is the newest addition to San Mateo County Parks. A big thank you to Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) for protecting this one-mile stretch of coastline back in 2017, and congratulations to the County and POST on working diligently to address all the challenges at this location -- from restoring landslide prone slopes to protecting habitat for the California red-legged frog and Snowy Plover, while making it possible for the public to access this area and enjoy the sweeping coastal views.

Green Foothills legislative advocate Lennie Roberts served on the Community Advisory Committe that developed the Master Plan for this new beach park.
