Canopy Canopy connects communities through thriving urban forests. Our mission is to collaborate with communities to grow and sustain equitable urban forests for all.

Urban trees and nature have a profound impact on people's health, wellbeing, and quality of life. CANOPY envisions a day when every resident of the Mid-Peninsula can walk, play, and thrive under the shade of healthy trees. To bring this vision to life, we plant and care for trees where people need them the most, and bring the life-giving benefits of trees to the schools, neighborhoods, and public

spaces of the Mid-Peninsula. With the help of hundreds of volunteers and supporters, we're working towards to grow healthy trees and healthy communities. You can join us! www.canopy.org.

⭐Tree Care Workday with Hoover Community School⭐

This past Saturday, community volunteers joined Canopy and for a day of tree care, family fun, and celebration!

Together, we cared for 32 trees around the campus by checking roots, spreading fresh mulch, replacing straps, and pruning. Check out what some volunteers had to say about the experience 🎥

After the tree care session, we enjoyed lunch and a wonderful Folklórico performance by !

Thank you to Hoover Community School for their partnership and all the volunteers who joined us to care for the campus trees, including Community Forestry School graduate Ivan! We especially want to celebrate Kaela, one of our Fellows, who led and coordinated this tree care workday.

We were in many places today in honor of arbors and earth days. But more importantly, we were in community.

There’s no shortage of events that bring people together for a moment: a table, a listening session, a well-framed photo.

But impact asks more of us.

When we talk about Planting Action, we mean rolling up our sleeves and doing the kind of work that doesn’t just look good, it does good. The kind of work that quietly, steadily, changes the trajectory of a neighborhood.

Today, more than 100 people showed up - from East Palo Alto to Mountain View - and planted over 20 trees. At Vargas Elementary in Mountain View, we hosted a fair for the school community to get closer to nature.

What happened today weren’t symbolic gestures, and they won’t end when the photos are posted. These trees will cool streets, clean air, and grow alongside the communities that planted them. And just as importantly, something less visible took root: connection, stewardship, and a shared sense of responsibility.

That’s what real impact looks like.

Not just showing up, but staying with the work long enough to matter.

Believe in hope. Today, we proved it’s still in abundance.

🌳This Arbor Day, and truly every day, Canopy is proud to champion what trees bring to our neighborhoods, our families, and our friends. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the tireless dedication of our volunteers, we remain committed to planting and caring for trees across our region and to building the stewards and advocates who expand access to the benefits of trees for our community and so many others.

Because we know trees are not optional environmental assets; they're critical public health and climate adaptation infrastructure. And just as importantly, they bring people together, strengthening our communities and creating lasting relationships with the earth and one another.
