Take action now Palo Alto and Stanford residents

Stanford proposes to add hundreds of students to PAUSD - who may all live in
Stanford-owned property tax-exempt rental homes - in the new 2018 General Use Permit (GUP) now being negotiated with Santa Clara County.
PAUSD faces millions of dollars in annual budget shortfalls, causing increased classroom sizes, program cuts, and teacher / staff layoffs.
PAUSD has no neighborhood school for these Quarry Road students.

The Stanford GUP is a very BIG building project in our neighborhood and one that will impact our children's education on a daily basis. The GUP will be effect for the next 17 years or until 2035.

Honorable Joe Simitian is our elected County Board of Supervisor official. He has the authority to negotiate the terms of this Development Agreement on our behalf along with Supervisor Cindy Chavez. They wants to hear from us. The easiest way to learn and give input in the most timely way is to come tomorrow night. Bring your questions. For more go to www.CountyStanfordDA.org.

PTA Council Executive Board continues advocate for items crucial for the safety and quality of education at all of our 17 schools.

The Executive Board has a **Wish List** including Safe Routes to School, on site after school childcare, subsidized housing for teachers/staff, etc. Our interests are aligned with our school district. The PAUSD Board unanimously voted week before Thanksgiving to include the following items as terms in the Development Agreement. They are:

1) a 4-acre parcel of land and funds to build a neighborhood school;
2) funding for any student that are from tax exempt Stanford housing; and
3) a one-time developer impact fees as required by law.

Your school may have more specific needs that someone needs to articulate for your school. You must send a PTA representative. We expect all PTA Presidents and/or EVPs to attend. We will have a sign-in sheet at the meetings.

Although all schools will be impacted, Nixon Elementary, Escondido Elementary, Addison Elementary, Duveneck Elementary, Walter Hays Elementary, Greene Middle School, and PALY are the schools closest in geographic proximity to the proposed housing at Quarry Road. K-12 students from the new housing could be attending your school. If you are the PTA President at one of these schools and you cannot attend the meeting tomorrow, please send at least two representatives. If you are from any other school and you personally cannot attend tomorrow's meeting, please email me at [email protected].
