We host activities throughout the year at our pool, clubhouse, and redwood-filled park. Greenmeadow Community Association (GMCA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1954 to assist the residents of a newly built and unique Eichler development to govern and manage the beautiful and historic Community Center. The Association is responsible for the maintenance and use of the 2.9 acres facility tha
t features a community center building, a swimming pool, a preschool and a small park with barbecues, picnic tables and a basketball court. Greenmeadow is rich with history and is on the National Registry of Historic Neighborhoods. This is a vibrant community of diverse neighbors, living both directly in Greenmeadow and in surrounding neighborhoods, with wide ranging interests who cooperate on a volunteer basis to organize and run programs that all members and their guests can enjoy. Membership is open to anyone, regardless of where they live, and Association activities are a function of the interests of the membership. Some events, like the annual July 4th Parade and Celebration are steeped in tradition, while others are relatively new, like food truck and karaoke nights. We depend heavily on committee volunteers who serve on committees to established by the Board each year. Committees handle major continuing responsibilities such as membership, social activities, maintenance of the buildings and grounds, and assisting with the functioning of the pool. GMCA contracts with Santa Clara Swim Club to provide the staffing and much of the management of the association activities. Many events, such as the annual House and Garden tour, the children's Halloween Party, educational, civic and recreational classes and meetings are chaired and staffed on a task or single event basis. Our largest event is our locally famous 4th of July Celebration, featuring our neighborhood band, a parade (usually led by the Mayor of Palo Alto) and a picnic with games in the Greenmeadow Park and Pool.
