Florida community survived Ian. Future? Storm resistant communities? The community is located 30 miles inland to avoid coastal storm surges. Power lines to homes are all run underground, where they are shielded from high winds. Giant retaining ponds surround the development to protect houses from flooding. As a backup, streets are designed to absorb floodwaters and spare the houses.

Hundreds of thousands of people in southwest Florida still don't have electricity or water. But Babcock Ranch, north of Fort Myers, was designed and built to withstand the most powerful storms.

Just sharing this certificate we received from the PCUSA acknowledging our 10th year as an Earth-Care congregation (congregations that are going the extra distance to care for our planet and the living beings on it). Killer robots are here. That’s good news and bad news. The good news is I don’t think the end of the world is near. The bad news is humans have many years of death and destruction ahead of us.
