CHIU purchased two electric centrifuges for St. Jean Marie and St. Francis health centers. Electric centrifuges provide an efficient means of obtaining complete blood counts compared to manual centrifuges, where blood samples must be hand-spun. At about $350 each, this was one inexpensive way to make a long lasting improvement in the delivery of healthcare in rural Uganda.

one of the two donated ultrasound machines is currently with the crate builder. Upon completion of the crate arrangements will be made to ship it to Uganda. A second crate is being planned with supplies and another ultrasound.

This pretty baby was born at St. Anthony’s Health Center III, in Mitala Maria, Uganda, last year. CHIU serves St. Anthony’s, a health center that provides prenatal care to expectant mothers and delivers their babies. The pretty treats, made for a baby shower, will help the doctors and nurses to continue to care for moms and babies at St. Anthony’s, thanks to a donation to CHIU from someone most generous.
