Sister Mary Adele was so excited, she just had to send us photos in the middle of the night as the first of CHIU's two shipping crates arrived to St. Francis Health Center in Kitakyusa, Uganda. Thanks to many generous donors, women and babies in rural Uganda will have access to improved care for years to come!

CHIU is excited to announce that we now have a second shipping crate ready to deliver essential medical supplies to four health clinics and rural Uganda! 🇺🇬 🚢

This crate was built as an Eagle Scout project by BSA Troop 138 member, Brett Hicks, with the help of his fellow troop members. Their dedication and hard work have made a lasting impact. 

CHIU extends sincere gratitude to the Knights of Columbus, Palmyra, VA, UVA Health, and many generous donors whose financial support and donations of medical equipment made this project possible.

Together, we are helping expand access to vital medical supplies and improving healthcare for communities in rural Uganda. Thank you to everyone who made this achievement a reality!

CHIU purchased two electric centrifuges for St. Jean Marie and St. Francis health centers. Electric centrifuges provide an efficient means of obtaining complete blood counts compared to manual centrifuges, where blood samples must be hand-spun. At about $350 each, this was one inexpensive way to make a long lasting improvement in the delivery of healthcare in rural Uganda.
