Scout Troop 138

Scout Troop 138 Scouting, BSA Troop 138 in Palmyra, VA is an active, boy-led troop chartered by St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The Scout Motto:
Be Prepared.

We hold meetings every Wednesday night at 6:30 pm at the church, and plan monthly activities with a goal to Be Prepared for Life. Troop 138 in Palmyra, VA follows the Boy Scouts of America vision of having Boy Scouts be youth-led. Scouting is different from the way a lot of youth activities are run, where the adults decide what to do and the youth do it, and sometimes it is difficult for adults to

realize that we have a different role and a different goal. In many other programs, the goal is to have fun activities and generate achievements, and the role of the adult is to make sure the activities happen and that the achievements take place. In Boy Scouting, the role of the boys is to have fun activities and generate achievements on their own. The boy sets the destination, and the role of the adult is to help him on his journey. That is, our responsibility as adults is to promote the "process" of scouting. The Scout Law:
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. The Scout Oath:
On my honor, I will do my best. To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
