Riding with Angels A non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing abused and neglected horses.

Riding with Angels, a non-profit 501c3 organization, exists to present and model Christian principles by teaching the values of relationships, teamwork, trust and integrity. Our programs focus primarily on youth 7 to 18, who might not otherwise get a chance to experience the healing wonder of working with horses. The ranch offers a horsemanship program that is particularly effective for youth who face adversity or the challenges of inner city living.

Check out these cool pictures that Brianna Nevins took of some of the animals on our farm. I just wanted to share a little bit of what we have been up to lately. There are many horses in the slaughter pipeline that endure a lot of suffering after years of hard work. We are trying to provide proper, safe, loving homes for as many of these horses as we can. However, we can only house so many horses at a time due to space and cost. So we are reaching out to anyone who could provide a safe place for these horses to live out their lives. They are wonderful, kind, easy to care for horses that just need a proper retirement that they deserve. If you have space, please reach out to us or if you can financially support any of these horses, please make a tax deductible donation. Thank you for caring!

Wow!!! Congratulations Talis Pomeroy for winning the Eagle Scout project of the year award!!!!We couldn’t be more proud of you. What an exciting accomplishment. We have not been posting much but I will try to catch everyone up on what we’ve been doing the past year with another post this weekend. One of the adventures we’ve had was working with Talis. Riding With Angels was very blessed to be the recipient of his Eagle Scout project. Talis is an aspiring filmmaker and for his Eagle Scout project he did a lot of interviews and research sharing what we do here and explaining the plight of so many horses in the slaughter pipeline. I will post his film sometime this weekend. We are excited for his future and looking forward to all the great things he’s going to do to help change the world. Congrats Talis!

Today was a busy day at the farm! Lots of horses got their teeth taken care of by the amazing Dr. Rice and technicians of Midwest Veterinary Dental Services . I cannot emphasize enough the importance of having your horses regularly checked by a dentist. It has most definitely saved our horses and improve their quality of life. This horse has recently been surrendered and has had consistent discharge from his left nostril. After ruling out other diseases through multiple diagnostic testing he was finally able to see the dentist. Sure enough he had a giant cracked tooth that needs to be removed. This will cost roughly $2000. He’s gonna feel so much better once this is taken care of! He is a sweet boy, and we are really looking forward to him being part of the equestrian program for the inner city children.
