Its the first day of summer!! Summer is for getting outdoors, hiking, canoeing, getting a little wild, food with friends, long days and late nights, cooling off on the front porch, spending time with family, and...it could also be filled with lots and lots of reptiles.

All these experiences and more will be happening here at the cabin in just one week! Make the most of the season for our annual Reptile Rally 2026 festival on June 27th!

It is International Picnic Day! We've been working hard sprucing up the cabin so it can have many more years being a fun, relaxing, and beautiful space to enjoy as you explore the wonders of nature. It is the perfect place to bring a picnic, read a book, start your watercolor journey, catch up with old friends, have a day out with Nana, take a hike, or simply unwind.

The sights and sounds are new every season. Come on over and catch a glimpse! ☺️

Did you know that many of our animal ambassadors are rescued pets? For many of our exotic species, we have partnered throughout the years with local herpetological rescues such as Georgia Herpetological Association and Rescue and Georgia Reptile Society to place animals into our care who would thrive in an environmental education environment. Many of the "fan favorites" such as Guess the red-tailed boa or Leo the leopard gecko were once cared for by the amazing volunteers who dedicate their time to helping animals heal or find homes.

You can learn more at Reptile Rally 2026 about adopting the right reptile or amphibian into your home. There will be rescuers to meet and talks to help your family decide what is right for you.

And if you are not ready for the big plunge, local crochet artist Ashley will be at the festival with a turtle pal you can take home (no applications or additional care materials necessary 😉). These little friends can introduce your child (or you) to the wonder of reptiles and they're a good first step to becoming an animal helper and a sweet reminder to support our local pet rescues.

🐢 Turtle it up at Reptile Rally on June 27th anytime 11am-4pm.

I am a vulture lover, all the way down to my bones. But let’s face it, vultures get a bad rap. I sometimes forget that most people do not share my respect of these birds. In fact, most people really dislike, and more importantly, they tend to misunderstand these amazing animals. I am convinced tho...
