🇺🇸 LAST-MINUTE OPPORTUNITY FOR A VETERAN 🇺🇸

Pennsylvania Outdoor Veterans was made aware of an incredible last-minute opening for a MALE Veteran to attend the upcoming House in the Woods Veteran Fly Fishing Retreat in beautiful Maine! 🎣🏕️

📍 Lee, Maine & Baxter State Park
📅 May 17th – May 20th

This retreat includes:
✅ Guided fly fishing
✅ Hiking and outdoor adventure
✅ Fellowship with fellow Veterans
✅ Time to disconnect, recharge, and heal in nature

This is a primitive outdoor experience with limited cell service and hiking between ponds, so attendees should be physically able to navigate uneven terrain.

⚠️ This opening will be filled FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED.

If you or a Veteran you know could benefit from this experience, please contact:

ONE OF THOSE LAST MINUTE HIKES…

PYRAMID MOUNTAIN, BOONTON/MONTVILLE

SUNDAY—MARCH 15, 2025

We are heading back to the famous Pyramid Mountain Natural Area with the even more famous Tripod Rock. Be prepared for chilly weather and there may be some snow showers in the area. Probably won’t need them, but it’s a good idea to bring your microspikes along. Because of the recent rains and melting snows the trails are likely to be wet and muddy in areas.

This will be a more rugged hike than our last couple of excursions. Please note that the trails are rocky with some STEEP DESCENTS and UPHILLS. You may not get 10,000 steps, but you will earn the ones you do! The hike will be around 5 to 7 miles or so. READ THE SPECIAL DRIVING/PARKING DIRECTIONS below!

This is an interesting geological area in an area heavily impacted by the last Ice Age. There will be several hills and rocky trails, but there are nice viewpoints and interesting things to see (Tripod Rock, Bear Rock, NYC skyline, and so forth).

TIME: 10:30 A.M.

WHERE: BOONTON AVENUE BASEBALL FIELDS
[ 40.96783/-74.36514 ]

SPECIAL DRIVING/PARKING INSTRUCTIONS!! [NOT The visitor center parking]
Those of you coming up from the south (likely through the Town of Boonton)—you will pass the Pyramid Mountain visitor’s center on the left (the old Mars office complex on the right) and continue past the Boonton Reservoir (on the left). As you pass the end of the reservoir the baseball fields and parking area will be on your LEFT (just before the intersection of Boonton Avenue and Fayson Lakes Road). If you come from the north the baseball fields will be on the right just after the intersection of Fayson Lakes and Boonton Avenue.

We’re heading out for a relaxed hike this Saturday and would love to have you join us. It’s a great opportunity to get outside, clear your head, and connect with others who understand the job and the service.

After the hike, anyone who wants to stick around is welcome to join us for some food, conversation, and fellowship.

If you’re a veteran or first responder and this sounds like something you’d enjoy, send me a message for the details.

Hope to see you out on the trail.
