As to be expected in a criminal case, the last several months have seen multiple court dates set and then rescheduled, motions filed by and responded to both the state & the defense. The most recent by the defense include a "Motion to Dismiss Indictment Based on False & Misleading Testimony By AST" (filed 6/20/22) as well as a Request for Evidentiary Hearing (filed 7/13/22) & an Application for Second or Subsequent Bail Review Hearing (filed 8/01/22).
On 8/18/22, a temporary order vacating the defendant's PED supervision was granted by Judge Stohler.
The next court date, scheduled for 11/22/22, is for the requested Evidentiary Hearing.

The date for Moreland's Pre-trial Conference has been changed to April 30, 2020. This is most likely due to COVID19. Also noted is the updated bail conditions

Jacob Moreland, the 22 yr old accused in the drunk driving death of retired Trooper Dallas Massie, has been released on $20,000 bail (10K performance + 10K bond, paid for in cash by his attorney). He was arrested on December 7, 2019 at a residence on Elliott Circle in Wasilla... this is him & his truck..he's known for driving recklessly..

Not high enough bail given to Jacob Moreland considering he was speeding at almost 60mph with a BAC of .174 that fateful night

Jacob Moreland is charged with manslaughter in the death of Dallas Massie, a longtime Mat-Su investigator.

The man accused of criminal negligent manslaughter and DUI in a traffic collision that killed a retired Alaska State Trooper is in custody.

We are waiting for the court to release the results of the investigation into Jacob Moreland's speed & toxicology tests so that those can be posted, but we can release these pictures of Dallas' truck (post-collision).

Washington state disciplinary action taken against Moreland's attorney.
To clarify, this information is being shared because we have been told that this same attorney helped Moreland elude capture. If that turns out not to be the case, this post will be removed.

Marriya Wright stepped down from her role in Washington on Wednesday after court document gave details about her alleged relationship with Matthew Baumrucker.

Marriya Wright is Moreland's attorney & it would appear that she's been convicted at least once of assisting a convicted felon elude capture in Washington state

Matthew Baumrucker, 32, pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a firearm and will spend the next 7 years in federal prison. Marriya Wright, the deputy prosecutor who pleaded guilty to assisting Baumrucker evade police, remains on probation but is still licensed to practice law in Washington.
