After years of dedication, professionalism, and service to the National Airspace System, it’s time to celebrate a well-earned retirement for Ty Meyers!

Ty’s commitment to excellence, support of his fellow controllers, and contributions to our facility have left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to work alongside him. His knowledge, mentorship, and sense of camaraderie will be greatly missed, but his legacy will continue long after his final shift.

On behalf of NATCA and all of your brothers and sisters in solidarity, thank you for your years of service and dedication. We wish you nothing but blue skies, new adventures, and countless opportunities to enjoy this next chapter.

Parent’s Night Out (for FAA Parents only)
Friday, May 22, 2026
5:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Children ages 18 month to 12 years old.
First child - $50.00
Additional child/ren - $20 each.
Dinner and one snack will be served.

We would like to have full enrollment package, if your child is going to attend (no enrollment requirements for regular students).
Please make sure your child is fully vaccinated.

The NATCA ZLA Professional Standards Committee is proud to recognize MIKE PIOLATTO of Area F as the Jan–Mar Professional Standards Controller of the Quarter!

Mike was nominated multiple times for his professionalism, dedication, leadership, and positive attitude. He consistently sets the standard through his strong work ethic, commitment to safety and efficiency, and willingness to support both his fellow controllers and developmentals. As Area F’s floor training representative, Mike goes above and beyond to strengthen training efforts and help others succeed.

His reliability, professionalism, and commitment to excellence make him truly deserving of this recognition.

Today, we honor and recognize Jeff Plendl for his dedication, professionalism, and the lasting impact he made on the members of NATCA ZLA.

Jeff’s commitment to this profession and the people around him never went unnoticed. Whether through his leadership, mentorship, humor, or simply being someone others could count on, he helped shape the culture and camaraderie that makes our union family strong.

His presence will truly be missed, but the memories, friendships, and influence he leaves behind will continue on throughout ZLA for years to come.

On October 9, 2025, Los Angeles Center faced major weather impacts that forced sudden reroutes and created a surge of unexpected traffic into surrounding sectors.

While working Sector 13, Adolfo Arce stepped up in a big way—safely integrating multiple complex flows of aircraft at unusual altitudes, speeds, and spacing. His ability to stay composed and maintain order under pressure reflects the professionalism and skill we rely on every day.

Adolfo is also widely respected for his dedication, training, and willingness to support his fellow controllers.

The Professional Standards Committee is proud to recognize Adolfo Arce with a Challenge Coin for his outstanding work and continued commitment to excellence.
