Last Friday we held our joint DAR SAR annual meeting at the Mission Hills Country Club. President, Dave Arthurs, talked about his Native American ancestor, Jeremiah Brann, who fought in the American Revolution. He, four brothers and an indentured servant enlisted. His father contributed 9000 pounds of to***co to the cause, worth over $250k in today’s dollars. One brother died in the conflict. Jeremiah fought in the Southern Campaign.

Chapter President, Dave Arthurs, gave an encore performance of last month’s 250 Minute for the American Legion in Indio, CA. He presented the mixed drinks our Revolutionary War Soldiers drank during the war: the Whiskey Julep, the Flip, the Rattle Skull, and the Stone Fence. The Veterans got a tasting of the Stone Fence. A big thanks to prospective member, Steve Waggoner, for setting this up!

Chris Cerillo pictured with Army Reserve Lt. Col Mike Albertson, at the JROTC Ball for Kaiser High School in Fontana with the Army and Navy. This is a joint Ball for the two programs with the Navy as guests from Fontana High School.

Chris Cerillo gave a speech inspiring the Students to dedicate themselves to Country above themselves and to fellowship with their peers, as did our Ancestors when forming America. Chris presented a copy of The American Revolution, by Ken Burns, on behalf of Coachella Valley Chapter, SAR.

SAR and our Coachella Valley Chapter were represented last night at the Rancho Mirage Writer's Festival. Ken Burns was their opening night speaker. Before the presentation, President General Michael J. Elston gave Ken Burns an award for his groundbreaking documentary work on the American Revolution.
