Our Palm Springs High School Interact Club Hijacked our Rotary luncheon meeting on Wednesday. They took over everything from the time they rang the bell to the time of adjournment. It was so much fun. These students are amazing and inspirational. They shared with us their plans for their future and told us what Rotary and Interact meant to them. Then they extracted money from our pockets by quizzing us on our knowledge of Palm Springs. Whether we got the answer right or wrong, we were still fined. These students never fail to amaze us.

Our Palm Springs High School Interact Club at work.
This is an ongoing project in which our Interact members meet at the Mizell Senior Center and make up packets of disinfectant product such as hand sanitizer, disinfectant, wipes, and masks to be distributed to homebound seniors. Limited mobility or limited resources make it difficult for many vulnerable seniors to keep these supplies on hand.
Wes Winter, Executive Director of the Mizell Senior Center recently texted this thank you note,
(Judy, I wanted to let you know that we've been receiving calls from grateful home bound Meals on Wheels participants about the sanitation bags that you and the kids prepared. They have been so very appreciative. We're sure to let them know that our local Rotary is looking out for them. Wes)

I am so proud of our Palm Springs High School Interact Club for all they have contributed to our community and Internationally so far this year. In November, in honor of Rotary Interact Week our club donated to the Rotary International Foundation. They organized a program called “Notes for the neighborhood” in which they write notes of gratitude to the front-line workers in the local hospital and notes of encouragement to covid patients. They have an ongoing project, where they make packets of needed covid items such as bleach, hand sanitizers, disinfectant wipes, and masks to be distributed to housebound seniors. This club held a drive to get essential personal items, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, and more for the people living without a home. The club carried out a food drive in November and just last week held a warm cloths drive. Both highly successful as you can see by the stacks of bundles in the back of my SUV.

Hi folks, please join in to help our Rotary Interact club with their fundraiser.
Heyday burgers located at the east side of the Hotel Cole 2323 N. Palm Canyon will donate 20% of the proceeds to the Interact club. Just click the link below. You can order your delicious burger this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the 10th, 11th, and 12th.
What will make this a success is not only you ordering your burgers, but if you send this information out to your friends and family through emails and social media. Remember you must tell the Heyday curbside server the code word “Interact “when you pick up your order.

Our Palm Springs High School Interact Club performed the first of an ongoing service project which we call the Covid Senior Project. We made packets of hand sanitizer, masks, disinfectant wipes, and disinfectants to be distributed to housebound seniors. The Mizell Senior Center will deliver the packets along with theirs Meals on Wheels program. We did this with 5 club members and 2 Rotarians outside at the Mizell Senior Center Parking lot.

Heyday burgers
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sept. 10, 11, 12

Heyday burgers is at the east side of the Cole Hotel at 2323 N Palm Canyon.

Here is how it works...Please send this link (down below) to anyone and everyone that you’d like to be a part of this event. They will then click the link, choose a day and a time slot that works well for them, and then place items in their cart for checkout. Once they checkout, they show up at their chosen time slot and notify the curbside staff member that this is an “Interact” order. Heyday staff will then make note of that and get their order ready for them to enjoy. Remember the code word is “Interact”

Once the weekend is over, Heyday will tally up the “Interact” orders, and donate 20% to the PSHS Interact club

And that’s it!!

Greetings,
Our Interact board met July 31st and had a very product meeting, with good ideas for projects to help the homeless and the housebound seniors during these very uncertain times.
We will hold our first Interact meeting by zoom on Wednesday the 19th at 2:00. If you would like to attend let me know.

We are immensely proud of our Palm Springs High School Interact Club. They are an amazing group of young people. They have accomplished so much for their community and Internationally and for that they were presented with the District 5330 Interact Award.
