Scam Alert from Palm Springs Police Department, CA

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Someone calling and claiming to be the Palm Springs Police Department? Slow down before you act.

We’ve recently received reports of scammers calling community members while pretending to be members of the Palm Springs Police Department.

The caller may claim you have:
• An outstanding warrant
• Unpaid traffic fines
• A missed court appearance or subpoena
• Missed jury duty

Then comes the pressure.

The caller will often tell you that if you hang up, officers will immediately be dispatched to arrest you. They may even spoof our phone number, use the names of real officers, or provide fake badge numbers and case numbers to sound legitimate. These tactics are designed to create panic and force you into making a quick decision.

Remember this:
🔹 Scammers create urgency. Legitimate law enforcement does not.
🔹 The Palm Springs Police Department will not call demanding immediate payment to avoid arrest.
🔹 We will never instruct you to pay with gift cards, cryptocurrency, Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, or wire transfers.

If you receive one of these calls:

✅ Stay calm.
✅ Hang up.
✅ Look up the agency’s official phone number yourself. Do not call the number the caller provides.
✅ Contact the agency directly to verify whether the claim is legitimate.
✅ Report the incident to your local law enforcement agency.

One of the best ways to protect yourself is to recognize urgency. If someone is pressuring you to act immediately, preventing you from hanging up, or threatening immediate arrest unless you pay, it’s almost certainly a scam.

Please share this post with your family, friends, and neighbors, especially older adults who are frequently targeted by these scams. Your share could prevent someone from becoming the next victim.

PALM SPRINGS ANNOUNCES 2026 PARK MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE

The City of Palm Springs Department of Parks & Recreation has announced the 2026 yearly field maintenance schedule for parks throughout the City. During this process, affected turf areas will be temporarily closed to allow for reseeding, irrigation, and the healthy establishment of new turf. Residents and park visitors are kindly asked to observe all posted closure signs and avoid entering fenced or restricted turf areas during the maintenance period. The City appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during these temporary closures as staff work to ensure high-quality recreational spaces for residents and visitors.

Demuth Park: September 20 - November 3
Frances Stevens Park: September 21 - November 4
Sunrise Park: September 21 - October 29
Palm Springs Stadium: September 22 - October 30
Downtown Park: September 28 - October 30
Wellness Park: October 1 - November 6
Desert Highland Park: October 5 - November 9
David H. Ready Dog Park: October 5 - December 23
Baristo Park: October 12 - November 13
Ruth Hardy Park: October 12 - November 20
Cerritos Field: October 19 - November 30
Victoria Park: November 3 - December 8
This schedule applies only to field and turf/grass areas. Playgrounds, trails, and public facilities will remain open and available for use unless otherwise noted.
