BEFORE HOLLYWOOD HAD RULES, NORMA SHEARER WAS BREAKING THEM!

Glamorous, sophisticated, and deliciously daring, Academy Award winner Norma Shearer was one of MGM's biggest stars—and one of the defining women of Hollywood's scandalous Pre-Code era.

From The Divorcee (1930) and A Free Soul (1931) to Strange Interlude (1932) and Riptide (1934), Shearer challenged Hollywood's conventions with portrayals of independent women who pursued love, pleasure, and freedom on their own terms.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18 | 3PM

Join us for a special screening of THE DIVORCEE (1930), the provocative drama that earned Shearer her Academy Award for Best Actress!

Plus, authors Kim Luperi and Danny Reid discuss their book Pre-Code Essentials: Must-See Cinema from Hollywood's Untamed Era, 1930–1934, in conversation with Christopher Lisotta.
